Section C Objectives and activities
- (a) Support the advancement of professional rescue in UK fire and rescue services and other rescue services through a range of activities and products, all of which serve the needs of the rescue community in its widest sense, from service providers, suppliers, researchers and training organisations.

(c) Advance the education of the rescue services in the UK and overseas by providing training and experience in rescue extrication and recovery techniques.

1. UKRO Challenge 2022
From 29 September 2022 – 1 October 2022, in partnership with West Midlands Fire and Rescue Service, we held the 2022 Festival of Rescue. The event included 30 extrication teams, 19 trauma teams, 8 water teams, 10 rope rescue and 4 USAR teams.
We provided Educational workshops in the following subjects:

Post-vehicle collision – Incident involving Lithium-Ion Batteries

Post-vehicle collision – Vehicle relocation
-
Trauma care – airway management
-
Heavy rescue lifting
Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit)
We and our partners through support from UK and Ukrainian Governments were able to host a team of ten Ukrainian Firefighters, Officers and their translators who undertook training and participated in the Challenge.
2. Global work
We supported the World Rescue Organisation in delivering the World Rescue Challenge in Luxembourg, contribute to the development of rescue standards, assessor standards and challenge concept.
3. Organisational development Throughout 2022 UKRO continued to engage and reach out to new partners to improve the brand and reputation of the charity. This included significant partnership work with the National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC) through the UKRO Academy along with the Institute of Fire Engineers (IFE) offering all UKRO volunteers the opportunity to progress their own continual professional development. Other partnership work included developing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Professional Recovery Operators Federation (PROF).
