The trustees present their report and financial statements for the year ended 5 April 2025.
Silverdale Gospel Hall Trust is constituted by a Deed of Trust dated 15 March 2¢)05, amended by Deed of
Variation dated 18 August 2014. The Trust was registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales
on 29 April 2016 under Charity registration number: 1166844. The registered office is 2 Hatlex Hill, Hest Bank,
Lancaster, LA2 6ET.
The financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the accounting policies set out in nole 110 Ihe
financial statements and comply with the trusys governing document, the Charrties Act 2011 and "Accounting and
Reporting by Charities.. Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounls in
accordance with the Finan￿81 Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland {FRS 102)
(effective 1 January 2019)..
Objectives and activities
The Trust has the following charitable purposes:
The advancement of the Christian religion for the public benefft including by the carrying on of the
service of God in accordance with the Old and New Teslaments of the Holy Bible as followed by those
Chrislians fomiing part of the wodd-wide fellowship known as the "Plymouth Brethren Christian Church
(the "Brethren" ) whose core doctrine and whose proper practi￿$ in furtherance of some of the aspects
of Ihal core doctrine ("Faith in Practice" ) is summarised in the Schedules to the New Trust Deed
which is conlained in the Second Schedule to the Deed of Variation dated 18 August 2014.
Any other charitable purposes connected with Brethren.
Public benefit
The trustees have paid due regard to guidance issued by the Charity Cornmission in deciding what actwities the
trust should undertake.
Details of the public benefit activities undertaken by the trust are included in the annex to these financial
stslements.
Main Activities
The Trust provide5 and maintains one gospel hall for the ￿ligIouS activities of Christians often referred to as
'Brethren'. Details of the origins, teachings and way of Itfe of the Brethren can be found on their website
www.plymouthbrethrenchristianchurch.org.
Meetings held at these gospel halls include the Lord's Supper (Communion). Gospel preachings, Bible readings
and Bible addresses. Depending on the particular meeling, between 40 and 340 people normally attend these
occasions. There is a structured weekty schedule of meetings held in one or more ofthe gospel halls.

Spreading the Gospel Message
The Gospel Hall is a base from which a large number of preachers operate to spread the Christian gospel, in
word and deed. Gospel tracts are provided free of charge by the Trust to such preachers. Many of them also
preach the Christian gospel on the streets of Lancaster most weeks of the year.
In addition to street preaching, the twst also distribLrtes gospel tracts and bibles together with a programme of
providing regular packs of nutritious food and gospel literature to homeless and needy persons through local
charities or homeless societies.
Members of the congregation supported the outreach work of a separate charity, the Rapid Relief team, by
providing volunteers to help with Ihe distribution of food boxes.
Visitors
The seNices and meetings are attended by the regular congregation and many of the servFces are open to other
visitors who are properfy disposed. The notice board outside the Hall welcomes visttors and displays times of
Gospel Preachings along with a telephone number for those seeking further infomiation or help. Gospel Tracts,
which are distribuied daily. also display this infonnation.
Bibles and an extensive range of other Christian reading material is on display al the Hall, to which visitors are
free to help themselves.
The life of a Christian
The following points are an extract from Schedule 1 of the Trust Deed. They ouiline the way of life of the Brelhren
as supported by the Holy Scriptures and how it contributes to public benefft"
We seek and are encouraged to live exemplary lives in all our relationships with others in Ihe wider
community {including former Brethren). in accordance with the teachings of Holy Scripture (1 Tim 2..21
We regularly go out from OUT homes to preach on the streets, to distribute Christian literature and
engage with the wider communty (including fom)er Brethren) in order to present elefnal salvation,
available to all men by faith in Jesus Christ. (2 Tim 4=2).
We seek as members of the public to lead Christian lives as husbands and wives. parents. children,
employers, employees and neighbours. (Col 3'.22-25, Col 4'.1).
The preSe￿allOn and protection of the family unit is fundarnental and Children are prized as a blessing
from God. (Psalm 127.'3-S).The eldedy are valued members of the communty, ft)r whom both their
family and the wider community are expected to caie.
Holy Scripture commands us to be good neighbours to others, and deal with all other people {including
former Brethren) openly, honestly and faidy and consistent wth these principles. we should give our
time, talents and money to assist those in need in the wider community, in so far as reasonable given
our abililies and our available resources. (Matt 7=12. Matt 22.39, Eph 4'.28).
Volunteers
Silverdale Gospel Hall Trust relies entirely on volunteers to carry out the management, administration and
general maintenance work. The Trust has no paid staff or paid Trustees.

Financial review
In the year ended 5 April 2025, the Trust had a deficit of £56.121 (2024 - £83.913) incoming resour￿$ over
resources expended. This was due to non-monelary ilems such as depreciation. Total voluntary income re￿iVed
this year was £71,800 (2024 - £56,082). All fvnds held were unrestricted funds.
Gifts totalling £13,621 were made during this year {2024'. £15,709).
Reserves policy
The Trustees have considered the level of reseNes they wish to retain, appropriate to the charitys needs. This is
based on the charity's size and the level of financial commitments. The Trustees would accept a reSe￿e policy at
the end of the 2024125 period of £30.000 to be adequate. This is reviewed at the end of each financial period. At
the year end, the Trust has £39.813 (2024= £30.925) free reserves and as such, the reseNes policy is being met.
The Trustees aim to ensure that the charity will be able lo continue to futfil its charitable objectives even if Ihere is
a temporary shortfall in income or unexpected expendtture, by raising a funds appeal from the congregation. The
congregation is kept regularly infomied as to particular needs for funds, and other relevant matters.
Funding
Funding is sought through gifts and donalions from the congregation. Grants are sometimes received from other
charitable Irusls with congruent objectives. Gift aid is also claimed on relevant gtfts.
Risk management
The trustees have assessed the major risks to which the trust is exposed. and are satisfied that systems are in
place to mitigate exposure to the major risks.
Plans for future periods
The Trust plans to conlinue all the cu￿ent activtbes.

The charity is conlrolled by a deed of trust and constitutes an unincorporated charity.

Recruitment and appointment of new trustees
Trustees are selected according to their experien￿ in specialised fields and are expected to use that experience
in furthering the objects of the Trust. Checks are made lo ensure that there are no legal or other bairiers to their
appointment. New Trustees are nominated by the existing trustees and appointed by unanimous resolution of the
Congregation. Incoming Trustees are made fully aware of their responsibilities by the existing Trustees who
ensure that new Trustees read the Trust Deed and the relevant guidan￿ for trustees published by the Charity
Commission.
None of the Trustees. nor any person connected wtlh them. received any remuneration or expenses from the
Charity in the year ended 5 April 2025 (2024.. £nil).

Organisational structure
All major decisions, including those of a financial nature are made by the Board of Trustees at their regular
meetings, which a￿ held at monthly intervals. More minor decisions may be made by individual Trustees in their
particular field of responsibility.
Mr T Devenish is the Treasurer for the Trust.
Wider network
The Trustees maintain infomial links with similar charrties with a view to kK)oling experien￿ considered useful in
pursuing the objects of the Charity.
The charity also maintains particular links with Cross Hill Gospel Hall Trust to whom il provides support and
shares members of its congregation.

STATEMENT OF TRUSTEES. RESPONSIBILITIES
FOR THE YEAR ENDED 5 APRIL 2025
The trustees are responsible for preparing the Trustees, Reporl and the financial statements in accordance with
applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Standards (Untted Kingdom Generally Accepled Accounting
Practice).
The law applicable to charities in England and Wales requires the trustees to prepare financial statements for each
financial year which give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the trust and of the incoming resources and
application of resources of the trust for that year.
In preparing these financial statements, the trustees are required to:
select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently.
- observe the methods and principles in the Charsiies SORP:
make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent-
state whether applicable accounting standards have been followed. subject to any material departures disclosed
and explained in the financial stalemenls., and
prepare the financial statements on the going cOn￿M basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the charity
will continue in operation.
The trustees are responsible for keeping sufficient accounting records that disclose with reasonable accuracy at
any time the financial position of the trust and enable them to ensure triat the financial statements comply with the
Charities Act 2011. the Charity (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 and the provisions of the trust deed. They
are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the trust and hence for taking reasonable Steps for the
prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities. All transactions have been reviewed and approved by
trustees.

I report to the trustees on my examination of the financial statements of Silverdale Gospel Hall Trust (trust) for the
year ended 5 April 2025.
Responsibilitios and basis of report
As the trustees of the trust you are responsible for the preparation of the financial statements in accordance with the
requirements of the Charities Act 2011.
I report in respect of my examination of the trust's financial statements carried oui under section 145 of the Charities
Act 2011. In carrying out my examination I have followed the Directions given by the Chartty Commission under
section 145(5)(b) of the Charities Act 2011.

Your attention is drawn lo the fact that the charity has prepared the financial statements in accordance with the
relevant version of the Stalemenl of Recommended Practice applicable lo charities preparing their financial
statements in accordance with Ihe Financial Reporling Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS
102) in preference to the Accounting and Reporting by Charilies: Slatement of Recommended Practice issued on 1
April 2005 which is referred lo in the extant regulations but has now been wilhdrawn. l understand that this has
been done in order for the financial statements lo provide a true and fair view in accordance with UK Generally
Accepted Accounting Practice.
I have completed my examination. I confimi that no matters have come to my attention in connection with the
examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respecl..
accounting records were not kept in respect of the trust as required by section 130 of the Charities Act 2011.

Accounting polici8S
Charity inforniation
The charity is controlled by a deed of trust and constitutes an urFincorporated charity.
Silverdale Gospel Hall Trust is constituted by a Deed of Trust dated 15 March 2005, amended by Deed of
Variation dated 18 August 2014. The Trust was registered wtth the Charity Commission for England and Wales
on 29 April 2016 under Charity registration number. 1166844. The registered office is 2 Hatlex Hill, Hesl Bank,
Lancaster, LA2 6ET.
1.1 Basis of preparation
The finanaal statements have been prepared in accordance with the trust's governing document, the
Charities Act 2011 and "Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recomfflended Practice
applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard
applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective 1 January 2019)". The trust is a Public
Benefit Entity as defined by FRS 102.
The trust has laken advantage of the provisFons in Ihe SORP for charities applying FRS 102 Update Bullelin 1
not to prepare a Statement of Cash Flow5.
The finanaal statements have departed from the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 only to
the extent required to provide a true and fair view. This departure has invofved following the Statement of
Recommended Practice for chartties applying FRS 102 rather than the version of the Stslement of
Recommended Practice which is referred to in the Regulations but which has since been withdrawn.
The financial statements are prepared in sterfing, which is the functional currency of the trust. Monetary
amounts in these financial statements are rounded to the nearest £.
The financial stalemenls have been prepared under the historical cost convention. The principal accounting
policies adopted are set out below.
1.2 Golng concern
At the time of approving the financial statsments, the trustees have a reasonable expectation that the trusl
has adequate resources to continue in operational existence for the foreseeable future. Thus the trustees
continue to adopt the going concem basis of accounting in preparing the financial statements.
1.3 Charitable funds
Unreslricled funds are available for use at the discretion of the trustees in furtherance of their charitable
objectives unless the funds have been designated for other purposes.
RestriGted fvnds are subject to specific conditions by donors or grantors as to how they may be used. The
purposes and uses of the restricted funds are set out in the notes to the financial statements.
1.4 Income
Income is recognised when the trust is legally entitled to it after any perf0mlan￿ conditions have been met,
the amounts can be measured reliably, and it is probable that income will be received.
Cash donations are recognised on re￿Ipt. Other donat￿nS are recognised On￿ the trust has been notified of
the donation, unless perf0Than￿ conditions require deferral of the amount. Income tax recoverable in relation
to donations received under Gift Aid or deeds of covenant is recognised at the time of the donation.
Legacies are recognised on receipt or otherwise rf the trust has been notified of an impending distribution, the
amount is known, and receipt is expected. If the amount is not known, the legacy is treated as a contingent
asset.

Donated Se￿iceS are recognised as income and expendilure in ihe financial statements when organisations
or individuals offer their servi￿$ and support pro bono. The value of these donated serVi￿S to Silverdale
Gospel Hall Trust is considered to be equal to market value which V￿uld be paid were the se￿iCe fomially
procured. This includes services paid for by other trusts.
1.5 Expenditure
Expenditure is included on an accrual basis. Liabilities are recognised as soon as there is a legal or
constructive obligation committing the trust to pay out resources.
Charitable activibes ￿MpriSe those costs directty attributable to the fulfilment of the tharitable objects.
Support costs have been allocated belween govemance costs and other support costs. G0Veman￿ costs
comprise all cosls involving the public accountability of the tnjsl and costs related to statutory requirements.
Governance and support cosls are all attributable to meeting rooms.
1.6 Tangible fixed assets
Tangible fixed assets are inttially measured at cost and subsequently measured at cost or valuation, net of
depreciation and any impairment losses.
Depreciation is recognised so as to write off the cost or valuation of assets less their residual values over their
useful lives on Ihe following bases=

Freehold land is not depreciated.
The gain or loss arising on the disposal of an asset is detennined as the dttterence be￿een the sale prO￿edS
and the carrying value of the asset, and is recognised in the statement of financial activlties.
1.7 Impairment of fixed assets
At each reporting end date, the trust reviews the carrying amounts of its tangible assets to determine whether
there is any indication that those assets have suffered an impaiment loss. If any such indication exists, the
recoverable amount of the asset is eslimated in order to determine the extent of the impairment loss (if any).
1.8 Cash and cash equivalents
Cash and cash equivalents include cash in hand, depK)Sits held at call with banks, other short-term liquid
investments with original maturities of three months or less. and bank overdrafts. Bank overdrafts are shown
within botrowings in current liabilities.
1.9 Flnancial instruments
The trusl has elecled to apply the provisions of Section 11 'Basic Finanaal Instruments, and Section 12 '0ther
Financial Inslruments Issues. of FRS 102 to all of its financial instrumenls.
Financial instruments are recognised in the tnjsvs balan￿ sheet when the trust becomes party to the
contractual provisions of the instrument.
Financial assets and liabilities are offset. with the net amounts presented in the finanaal statements, when
there is a legally enfOr￿able right to set off the recognised amounts and there is an intention to sellle on a net
basis or to realise the asset and settle the liabilty simullaneously.

Baslc flnanclal assets
Basic financial assets, which include debtors and cash and bank balances. are initially measured at
transaction price including transaction costs and are subsequentty carried at amortised cost using the effective
interest method unless the arrangement constitutes a financing transaction, where the transaction is
measured at the present value of the future re￿iptS discounted at a market rate of interest. Financial assets
classified as receivable within one year are not amortised.
Basic financial Ilabilitles
Basic financial liabilities, induding creditors and bank loans are initially recognised at transaction price unless
the arrangement constitutes a financing transaction, where the debt instwment is measured at the present
value of the ftjture payments discounted at a market rate of interest. Financial liabiltties classified as payable
within one year are not amortised.
Debt instruments are subsequently carried at amortised cost, using the effective interest rate method.
Trade creditors are obligations to pay for goods or seNices that have been acquired in the ordinary course of
operations from suppliers. Amounts payable are classified as current liabilities rf payment is due wilhin one
year or less. If not, they are presented as non-currenl liabilities. Trade creditors are recognised initially at
transaction pri￿ and subsequently measured at amortised cost using the effective interest method.
Derecognition of financial liabilities
Financial liabilities are derecognised when the trusys contractual obligations expire or are discharged or
cancelled.

Introduction
The purpose of this report is to demonstrate how the Silverdale Gospel Hall Trust has been
engaged in a range of activities in view of benefiting the public and interacting with the wider
community.
The Silverdale GospeL Hall Trust cares for the advancement of the Christian reLigion for the
public benefit includingthe carrying on of the service of God in accordance with the Old and
New Testaments of the Holy Bible as folLowed by those Christians forming part of a world-
wide fellowship known as the"Plymouth Brethren Christian Church" and any other charitable
purposes connected with Brethren.
The PLymouth Brethren were established in the early nineteenth century when Mr John Nelson
Darby left the Anglican Church and introduced independent gatherings to learn the scriptures
of the Holy Bible. Meetings were held with the Lord's Supper, the Holy Communion, being the
centre of all gatherings. This fellowship became known as the"Brethren" and members now
inhabit parts of North & South America, Australia, New Zealand, Argentina, Caribbean and
Britain, forming a gLobal community.
The Gospel has been held in Lancaster for over 170 years in meeting halls across the area.
The SiLverdale congregation is made up of 173 members living in the Lancaster and Carnforth
districts,. however with residents from the Preston area attending seNices each week,
together with other visitors, numbers attending setvices regularLy approach 350 persons,
ranging across aLL ages.

The trust and members of the congregation are committed to caring for the wider community
and dedicating time to public benefit activities.
Our outreach in 2024-2025 included:
£1000.00 donation to charity
1058 tracts given out
8 RRT events in which members of the congregation volunteered for
Maintenance of public benches and litter picking in the Local area
Street Preaching & Tract Distribution
Members of the SilverdaLe congregation have actively continued to attend the Street
Preaching every week, preaching the Gospel to the public. Free Gospel Tracts are handed out
to members ofthe wider communty.
The Street Preaching has been carried out for many years, and is supported by the SiLverdaLe
GospeL Hall Trust with the donation of tracts. Members of the congregation continue to
preach the name of Jesus and God's wonderful Gospel to the wider community in Lancaster
City Centre, to present eternal saLvation to all men.
In the past year, the Street Preaching attracted a total of 251 attendees, and 1058 tracts were
handed out.

St John's Hospice provides palliative care to all communities in the LocaL and surrounding
areas.

Localworkfor Carnforth Town Council
The Silverdale Gospel Hall Trust actively seek opportunities to help and support the local
area, providing benefit to the public.
Willing members of the congregation carried out work for the Local Carnforth Town Council on
several occasions, working early and late in the day. This consisted of maintenance of public
benches and Litter picking, creating a cLean & safe environment for the wider community.

RELIEF
TEAM
The Rapid Relief Team (RRT), our Global Charity, provides meals and support to the wider
community in times of need.
Members of the congregation volunteered hours of aid and support for both pLanned and
short-notice/reactive events, as foLIows;
JULY 2024- Cumbria Fire and Rescue Training - Senied approx. 50 hot meals and
drinks to the Cumbria Fire Service on a training exercise
JULY 2024- Alder Hey Coniston Challenge- Served approx. 200 hot breakfast and
Lunch grab bags to volunteers raising money for ALder Hey ChiLdrens Hospital
o August 2024- Seaton House Fire- Served approx. 40 hot meals and drinks to the
fire service at a reactive incident
September 2024- Cumbria Fire and Rescue Training- Senied approx. 60 hot meals
and drinks to the Cumbria Fire Serdice on a trainingexercise
o October 2024- BAE Shipyard Fire - Served approx. 100 hot breakfasts and drinks to
the Fire Service, Police and Ambulance crews during a reactive incident
o November 2024- Police Training-served approx. 100 hot meaLs and drinks to the
PoLice at a training exercise at SelLafield
February 2025 - MuLti Agency Exercise - Served approx. 100 hot meals and drink to
the PoLice, Fire and Ambulance seniices alongwith public volunteers at a training
exercise
March 2025 - Police Training Exercise- Served approx. 40 hot meals and drinks to
the PoLice at a training exercise.
