14 South Street, Great Torrington, Devon, EX38 8AA Tel: 01805 938008 email:enquiries@torringtonmuseum.org.uk ## Chair of Trustees’ Annual Report 2024 - We intended to open in March 2024 but work done over the winter severely hampered opening plans which were put back to May, then July, then August, at which point it was clear that we would be better served by waiting until 2025. - The Market House, which was scheduled to be opened in 2025, is still very much on the back burner as a project following the ceiling collapse over Christmas 2023. We cannot move forward until Torridge District Council have agreed to establish a plan of works and we will not begin until their side has been completed. As before, it is currently used as an area for sorting through the collections and occasional temporary displays. - The bookshop continues to do well, open in Reception outside normal opening and upstairs during the season. - Our fire system is now fully functional and compliant, albeit at a substantial financial cost. - We will, from the beginning of 2025, start implementing the work required for applying for Museums Association Accreditation. - The archive continues the process of sorting, indexing and storing.
