carrying oui this revlew the trustees have considered the Charity Commission's
general guidance on public benefit and in particular ils supplementary publi¢
guidance on the advancement of edutalion for the public benefit.

Morden Education & Cultural Centre is 8 charity committed to the educational
support and providing free ¢omplemènlary &Jucation prograrns lor people in
Morden area. We champion and serve the primary goal advan¢ing the edu¢aiion
of the public in the subjects of English LaNJuage, Life In the UK and several
ethn￿ languagtrs.
The 3upplemenlary educational support out ol s¢hotsl hours which is prowded by
our community members and teacher5 on a voluntary basis act as crucial
information and advocacy points lor adutts as well as children in our region. The
langua9e courses we provide are de51gned to improve the level ol English of
those who struggle to communicate and educate. Our prograrns aim for raising
aspirations and engagement that are e$8enli81 components lo remove thè
language barrier honce reducing failures in the classroom or at work.

Our Purposes..
Morden Education & Cultural Centre is being established to provide
supplemenlary education, place and materials in Morden aiea foi young people
who are struggling in formal education due lo language barrier. Iradrtion elc.

Langu•g¢ ¢our¥¢s.' The Morden area has accommodated a large number of
Turkish speaking people who have moved in the area In the last years. Wve
h8ve been funded ID run 8 three-year project lo provide English language
classes for these nw residents lo enable them to settle and inlegrJle more
easity into the local community. We focu$ on developing language skills ol young
people who needs addition81 support in language skills. The language courses
we provide are desi9ne(J lo improve the level of English of young peoplè who

struggle to communicate and educate. Al present many larnilies have shown
inter¢sl in this scheme and all have rnade considerable progress in oblainirvJ a
lunclional unders18nding and use of English in day-lo-day situations.
Homewort( support.. Some young people need support due to falling behind in
Iheir studies. Oui volunteer leachers provide homework support and rnaterials to
Ihose are in ne&J of supplementsry study support.
Hall and Rooms.. Our hall and meeling rooms are available for use ty local
groups and organisalions. This year alone Ihe faalilies have been used by
groups as varied as Ihe local kaf*e club and the local chess dub. Local
¢liaritiès are encouraged to make use of our rneeting rooms. and ho$t
surgeries with both I(￿al Counci11015 and the MP for Morden. Mhen facilities are
not requi￿￿ for community use they are available for hire on commercial terms.
This year 81one our faalities have been used on over 100 occasions and over 20
groups. or organisations have bgnefited from the facilities we can offer the local
community.

Volunteers are an important resOl*r￿ in community Work. This year our Charity
has achieved to reach over 500 Turkish speaking people in Morden and
surrounding cities. This helped us in¢rease our number ol volunleers then
helped us organise 8nd conduct more ¢harita￿e and fund-raising activities than
last year. Volunteers are involved in most of our community activities and we
have now over 20 people regL+larty gwing their time.

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above charity (“the Trust”) for the year ended 31 March 2023. 

**Responsibilities and** As the charity trustees of the Trust, you are responsible for the preparation **basis of report** of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”). 

I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
