Our main focus during 202212023 was Ihe
production of The Little Black Cat the opera
vrritten by young people with us in
202112022. The work described was
preparatory to the workshops. rehearsals
and perfomances which took place during
the following financial year (202312024).

The purpose of the work Ca￿led out was to
put us in a position to benefit as diverse a
group of young people as possible, giving
them meaningful and practical ways to
explore Iheir creativity, learning new skills
and developing their self-confidenGe and
social wellbeing.
The work carried out during 2022123 was
largely around fundraising, preparation and
planning. We were able to raise the
required funds to pursue the project
through a combination of grants from the
Arts Council and D'oyly Carte Charitable
Trust. and a campaign for individual
donations. including a fundraising o)ncert
in September 2022.

built up relationships and partnerships to
enable us to work with..
A cast and chorus of CYO members
drawn from across our community -
the first workshop for this group ran
in late March 2023
Two secondary schools and one
primary school for work on chorus of
cat sounds, designed to engage
with those who would usually
struggle to access the arts,
including those with special
educational needs andlor who are
geographically isolated
A further secondary school for
collaboralion around lighting and
technical theatre
The NoThvich Puppet Theatre. for
the training of young puppeteers. as
well as puppetry design
A team of expert freelancers to
deliver the work
We further continued the strategic work
begun in the previous financial year.
particularly around the development of the
Youth Board.

CYO had received grants from the Arts
Council and the d'oyly Carte Charilable
Trust for use in the pri)duGtion of Little
