The Shrewsbury Orthodox Church Appeal Foundation - Annual Report to The Charities Commission - Period 6th April 2020 to 5th April 2021. Registered Charity Number 1166735. 

The original objectives as detailed in the Trust Deed remain:- to advance the Greek Orthodox religion in Shrewsbury and the surrounding area for the benefit of the public through the raising of money to enable the building of a new church (with or without ancillary buildings) within the historic county of Shropshire for the Greek Orthodox Community of the 318 Holy Fathers of Nicea, Shrewsbury (or if insufficient funds are raised, then to support the existing Shrewsbury Orthodox Church) for the holding of prayer meetings, lectures, public celebrations of religious festivals, producing and/or distributing literature on the Greek Orthodox religion to enlighten others about the Greek  Orthodox religion. 

On 4th November 2020 we completed the purchase of a plot of land adjacent to the Church. This will give us the opportunity to extend the Church to meet the needs of our growing congregation and provide much needed facilities. We are now working with professional firms to explore our options for extending the Church and utilising the available amenity space. 

Any money raised thus far has been from local donations. We have not undertaken any major fund raising activities. 

The Trust deed has been reviewed and the purposes remain unchanged. 

Covid has prevented the Trustees from meeting regularly but we have communicated electronically.
