In accordance wilh the objects of the conslitulion Grainger Park continues to support and asslst
young people to develop their capabilities so that they may grow to become active citizens within
the community. Our aim is lo promote participation and association through the resources,
facilities and funding to offer a broad range ol activities, prografflmes and services that improve
the condition of life. Trustees will continue to secure a￿1 relain the centre and facilities for the
local communrty in order to further the objeclives.
Summary
These past 12 months Grainger Park have been establishing and embedding our Development
Pathway lor both coaches, volunteers and young people. We promote three bands of boxing
51ages, Juniors, Inlerrnediale and carded boxers. Carded boxers are young people registered
with England Boxing, registered on the Vautt ready lo represent and compete lor Grainger Park in
a competitive arena.
Young Boxers arrive and have lo Master the Boxing Stance and Guard and the first number ol
weeks young people are guided through the process lo ensure that once they begin lo develop
their skills, techniques and drills they return lo the nalural position.
Becoming light on your feel, quick thinking, rnoving from attack, to defend and lo withdraw. Our
young boxers are taken through this process slep by slep, moving forward or leli, backwards or
right and lo co-ordinate their efforts within the ring.
Once movement is perfected boxers are then coached in Boxing Techniques, the jab, Cross,
Hook and Uppercut. Each technique has ils own characlerislic and purpose and every boxer
must illustrate lo their coach they understand this and can execule the sequence.
Delence techniques are covered the Block, Parry and Rolling your opponent, Slipping and
Countering an Attack. All our boxers have lo satisty their coach they have mastered and
understood the technique, before they can move on.
Going hand in Glove with these slages are an improved lilness schedule, bul more importantly is
the Allilude and Behavior ol our Boxers and Young People. Compassion. Consideration. Respect
and Humility are all instilled in our young people. These attributes are as important as the skills
and techniques. Flespect yourself, your fellow boxers, our coaches and volunteers and above all
Respect our building. equipment. resources and materials.
Over the past 12 months we have collaled a number ol Testimonials from Parents and Guardians
who have seen and experienced improvement in behavior and attitude, of their siblings or
guardians. al home. in School and the Community-
Once the young person is competent in all these stages they are encouraged to move on into the
Intermediate Class. Many do so bul there are a number who have no desire lo progress and want
lo continue lo attend and keep lil and healthy. And that is fine. We will continue lo encourage
members to progress as they get older and their skills improve.
Moving on allows our young people lo build strength, improve fitness and develop the skills and
attitude reqLJired lo consider repiesenling Grainger Park in a competitive environment. Boxers
develop their skills sparring and working on the "pads" with coaches receiving individual tuition,
guidance and support.

The frequency and opportunity lo train increases with boxers having access to 5 sessions Ihrough
the week. The intensity builds. There are a number of boxers who choose to Move onto the next
stage lo become a Carded Boxer but rnany decide to stay at this level and sorne decide lo move
on and lake their journey lo other providers, knowing that Grainger Park will welcome them back
al any time.
Stepping up requires a boxer to train. run and exercise 5 times a week and lo keep this regime up
for as long as they compete.
Trustees have discussed al length the number of boxers who move away from Grainger Park lor
various reasons. We always ensure Ihal before they do we have a conversation to inslill upon
them that the door, here, will always be open.
We want lo recognize the volunteers and coaches who enable Grainger Park lo Deliver our
program. They are
Juniors- Chris Trotter and Phil Reid
Intermediate- Mick Johnson, Lee Major, Mark Laing. Ollie Maynard, Debbie Brunskill and Peter
Laing.
Carded- Billy Armstrong, Bary McDougal, Graham Connell and Rory Wainwright
All coaches are First Aid trained, DBS Checked. Level One trained and we have Coaches trained
al Level 2, and 3. We have Welfare Officers and Club Off icials. GP has maintained a long
relationship with England Boxing and is a long-standing Member ol the England Boxing
Association.
Trustees are also committed to ensure our building complies with H&S matters and all Fire
lighting equipment is maintained yearly. We have clear ideas on what lo improve lo make the
environment better lor all who attend the building.
Grainger Park hold 3 Boxing Shows lo highlight our young boxers. Our new Bleecher Sealing has
enabled us lo increase our capacity which has intern attracled other Boxing Clubs to use our
facilities lo hold their Show. England Boxing have also ulilized the facilities al Grainger Park lo
hold regional events.
Grainger Park will continue lo support our young people and build on the strong loundalion that
has made us one ol the leading Amateur Boxing Charities in the North East.
