Friday. Daniel is a good friend of theirs. They enjoyed the debating topics and were happy to have a conversation. Hamza Yash Daniel Lois Louis Archie Alex There were some participants from the sessions from 2022. Yan Ali Jade Saturday 28 - Children who want to join the debating club. Lilly Natalie James Nasear Christiana (maybe) Maria Pearl Afiyah R Sabrine Kayne Moore (seeing his dad) BRENT LIBRARIES Meeting on the 13th to discuss running workshops at Harlesden and during EMPATHY WEEK FEBRUARY I ran the first library sessions at Roxeth (2nd February). There were two classes and 60 children in total. Debating on Zoom. Everyone had a riddle and a word of the week. I turned up to YBF, but someone else was there. I got an email that the meeting was expected to be on TEAMS. So where was the link or mentioning that in the first place? However, I met Cllr Lebor, and he said I should write to Barnham school again and mention his name! Result. No trip is ever wasted.

I'm going to Cedars today and PF tomorrow. Unitas on Saturday. Total number of children this month 60 8 PRINCESS FEDERICA (Brent) 10th February - 60 ROXETH (Harrow) 2nd February - 60 CEDARS (Harrow) 7th February - 60 Continue every Saturday at Unitas Youth Zone Topics: You be the Judge (Cat Litter Tray) Home schooling is better than going to school. Teachers should never go on strike. Saturdays are the most productive time slot for the juniors. MARCH SUDBURY PRIMARY (Brent) 21 and 22 March Four classes of Year 6's 120 children Unitas Children are responsible for their actions. What is beauty? Q&A session Discussions with Library The participants have nominated Heer and Godson for the Jack Petchey Award. We completed a Tell Your Story programme sponsored by JLC. We will see if our story brings in more participants. APRIL Unitas still needs some work. I have new participants every week and have handed out water bottles and

notebooks left over from a Jack Petchey grant. I have good support from the leader, Louise, who lays out snacks weekly. We are in the library. It is a tiny room; seven children fill the space. We cover the same topics as the Zoom sessions and do LinkedIn Polls to get realtime feedback.

Unitas continues. Although young people turn up every week, debating is not a tradition, and there seems to be a high level of ADHD in children (other behavioural issues). This has yet to be confirmed to me. It is my observation. The four boys who turned up on the 29th were there the week before, and they invited a friend! They shouted and talked over each other still. They smacked one another and hardly listened to me as I had to repeat myself. However, during the session, I got reasons why maths was a good idea and why maths up to eighteen was not a good idea. I gave the answer to the riddle to the one person who wanted me to tell him the answer. I did this after the class and left him to explain it to the others if he wanted to. They all gathered around him (still poking and pulling hair) and waved to me as I left. Twelve sessions on a Saturday so far! I send a note about the session to Louise, the leader in charge, every week. You can only create a 'new' tradition by persistence. Connor, the manager, thanked me for my contribution. My pleasure. MAY Grimsdyke School has been booked up. They have three classes (90 children), and I must be there before 9.00 a.m. Heer has agreed to be a pen pal with Aubin, a French student. She will write in French, and he will write in English.

I write to Louise at Unitas each week about the topic. Fast food Home schooling is better than going to school. You are the judge. Who should be responsible for the cat litter tray? Q&A cards Children are responsible for their actions - this was a bit heavy, and the young students worried that some of the stories were true— Shamim Begum, Mary Bell, etc. Questions - how many shoes do you need to be happy? Easy general knowledge quiz WHAT IS BEAUTY? Junior doctors should not go on strike. Maths at eighteen. What do you think? Artificial Intelligence Mental Health Week: Kyla Jade and Cristiana had a lot of angst regarding their SATS. I went over a technique for making studying much more accessible with them. We also went through a list of mental health strategies and myths. Conner, the CEO at Unitas, will recommend me to Unitas Ealing when they are up and running. We also discussed formalising the work that I am doing. I have attended regularly and have worked with many young people. I am ready to discuss plans for post-September. JUNE Two schools were booked up, with at least four classes. Stag Lane and Montpellier have seven classes with 30 children in each (Montpellier had three classes - 90 and Stag Lane, four - 120). Stag Lane was my favourite class, and although the 114 bus took me via Brent and Barnet, the school was in Harrow! JULY

Preparation and planning for the new term and work with Brent Libraries. This time is an opportunity to write to more schools and prepare for a second session with schools I have already visited for September onwards. I will discuss the best days for Unitas during the summer holidays. And get in a bit of a break. I will start preparation for September with the CEO soon. However, we still have some youth work going on. Our last Debating on Zoom session is on 12th July. We received notification of funding from the YBF to carry out more work in schools in Brent. I will send notices to all the primary schools in September. Schools that I have already visited will be getting a new session plan. AUGUST I booked four dates with Brent Libraries to work with children and their parents. Willesden Green, Harlesden, Kingsbury, and Wembley. Each session is two hours long and will cover issues such as bullying, assertiveness, Ego Stages, Neurological levels, friendship, etc. Each session can have 20 children and their parents. We carried out four workshops for the Brent Libraries Summer Programme. The libraries included Wembley, Harlesden, Kingsbury and Willesden Green. Emails and lesson plans were developed and sent to all Brent Community Primary Schools. SEPTEMBER More school visit preparation, including John Perryn and Unitas. Unitas starts again on 16th

September.
