## **Achievements and Performance**

||SORP reference||
|---|---|---|
|Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.|Para 1.20|This year has been the most challenging and
yet the most rewarding in the Greater
London Youth Foundation history. GLYF
was founded in 2015 and gained charitable
status in 2016 and initial funding from the
John Lyon’s Charity and the Big Lottery.
The pandemic saw our last in-person session
in February 2020. The John Lyon’s Charity
enabled GLYF to run its first summer
programme on Zoom. We were
overwhelmed by the response and
immediately planned drama sessions every
Sunday from September onwards. We also
started our debating session on Zoom and
kept in touch with the members we had in
WhatsApp. By January 2021, we started
debating every Wednesday rather than once
a month. This programme also has seen a
rise in numbers and consistent participation.
We cannot count overseas guests as part of
our numbers, but young people from New
York, Africa and India add an occasional
richness to our sessions because we can ask
what life is like in these parts of the world.
Zoom has enabled GLYF to reach more
young people and to increase our capacity.
In 2021 GLYF started the Greater London
Youth Foundation Presents the Mikey Bharj
show, a weekly podcast. The podcast has
been made possible with the support of the
Big Lottery Community Fund and the John
Lyon’s Charity. Although the podcast
started by highlighting the achievements of
local young people and will continue to do
so from time to time, the appeal has been for
the short funny monologues.

**Outcomes**
88 online drama and debatingsessions|

300 achievement and participation certificates Three Jack Petchey Award nominations. 32 The Greater London Youth Foundation presents the Mikey Bharj Show podcast The podcast show has had many guests. These are young people who have done great things in their community or have overcome career struggles. We have also interviewed MP’s and community leaders. Latterly the monologues that Mikey produces have been very entertaining. We took part in some Harrow based projects to reduce Covid-19 vacation hesitancy Near Neighbours Harrow Giving We produced three versions of a video with different participants from our drama group called FAMDEMIC. These can be viewed on our website: www.glyfoundation.org.uk. **Reviews** Our participants have provided GLYF with five-star reviews, which can be seen on the Young Harrow Foundation Website. **Outcomes** We have had great feedback from our participants and their parents. Reviews are on the Young Harrow Foundation website. Below we include an email that sums up the feelings of our students. - Start From: **Holly Moore** Date: Tue, 5 Oct 2021 at 09:24 Subject: drama workshops To: Mikey Bharj <mikeybharj@gmail.com> Hi Mikey, I just wanted to thank you for such a fantastic opportunity that you gave me last year with the drama workshops. I really enjoyed them, and it has given me lots of invaluable experience and helped to prepare me for my auditions for the drama schools.

Thank you for all of the time that you put in, you are amazing. I wanted to share with you that I was successful at audition and got into Arts Ed doing a Foundation course in Acting. I hope to get onto the BA course next year. I have also started driving lessons and have a part-time job at the Grimsdyke Hotel so I sadly cannot continue with the drama workshops. Thanks again Holly - End
