Releasing Captives International (RCI) Report Year Ending March 2025
RCI’s key function is to support and encourage those of a Christian faith in both Detention Centres and Prisons. The main method to achieve this is by running Christian services in these establishments. The last 4 years have been difficult due to the stringent pandemic health restrictions which have continued to curtail our main operations.
However, during the past year things have started to change and the operational circumstances have enabled us to re-establish our ministry to the levels that predate the Covid-19 pandemic. Whilst detainee and inmate’s numbers have largely remained low, they are building day by day and capacity numbers are believed to be expected within the next few weeks.
RCI as a Charity has developed the opportunity to place on-line services through an informal link with the Kiros charity. Sermon messages from RCI volunteers have been recorded and mixed with usual hymns & praise/worship singing. Since our return to the venue this work has been reduced and existing sermons/talks are being edited for further use via our website.
The ministry has now established an individual whose sole role is to assist with all aspects of production and editing. Furthermore, he will ensure the website is suitably maintained to enable increased resources of Christian services into prisons and detention centres. This will further ensure that previous inmates/detainees will be able to access material at their leisure.
Volunteer numbers have remained consistent over the past 12 months with several new commers, including three new Trustees. These individuals have effectively replaced two previous Trustees who have recently stepped down, another one will be departing imminently. Additionally, the ministry/charity has effectively started two groups 1] who remain in a supportive role i.e. prayer meetings etc... whilst the 2] continue to physically attend the venues concerned.
Finally, funds have recently increased, and regular contributions have started to come in once more. This was and is in keeping with the Trustees previous summation that as ministry opportunities returned the funding would naturally follow.
Income received this year from friends of RCI currently stands at £2003.45 with individual donations via direct debit adding to this sum monthly.
Expenditure is £1655.45 comprising mainly, membership of CIC and attendance at its conference, plus web site services, recording/editing and Zoom payments.
The current balance as of 31 January 2026 stands at £2,003.45.
