RCI Report year end March 22
RCI’s key function is to support and encourage those of a Christian faith in both Detention Centres and Prisons. The main method to achieve this is by running Christian services in these establishments. The pandemic health restrictions have continued to curtail the main operations of RCI this year.
At points in the year visits have been allowed following strict covid tests. However, the actual numbers in the detention centre has been very low.
Therefore, the RCI charity has developed the opportunity to place on-line services through an informal link with the Kiros charity. Sermon messages from RCI volunteers have been recorded and mixed with praise and worship singing. However, this work has been frustrated due to the lack of studio space and editing expertise. Looking forward, a key RCI objective is to search for resources to assist with these aspects of production and editing. The aim, to enable it to place increased resources of Christian services into prisons and detention centres.
With the continued slowdown of activities, volunteer numbers and funds have fallen. The Trustees believe both of these will return as opportunities return as health restrictions are eased.
Income in this year is £1038 from friends of RCI
Expenditure is £2307 comprising mainly, a new lap top, membership of CIC and attendance at its conference, plus web site services.
