RCI Report year end March 21
Sadly, due to the advent of Covid in early 2020, the activities of RCI have been much curtailed. These activities normally involve the running of Christian services in Heathrow Detention Centres and encouraging and supporting those detained in the centres in their Christian faith. RCI maintains a strong relationship with the chaplaincy team.
The National lockdown and restrictions since April 2020 have closed the detention centres to us as visitors and there is no immediate sight of this situation changing. However, RCI has wanted to continue is support of those detained or in prison and sought to place its Christian services on-line. An opportunity has arisen to place recordings of various preaching and church services on the internal media network at the Detention centres and prisons nationally. RCI is seeking to make the most of this with additional recording and editing messages. We have in fact already done this in many establishments, and this support has been appreciated.
Contact with many ex detainees has continued via phone and zoom to encourage them in their Christian life.
Early in the pandemic, one of our volunteers, Sarah Rennie died from Covid. In her memory, a ringfenced fund has been established to receive and make gifts to those in need, either volunteers or those ministered too by RCI. To date £960 has been received and £575 distributed leaving £385 in the ring-fenced fund.
Income in this year is £4363 including a gift from Equippers church and friends of RCI
Expenditure is £1204 comprising mainly, membership of CIC and attendance at its conference, and web site services.
