1. Secretary’s Report 2024-25 season

Presented by Martin Muir

The 2024-25 season saw us gain U7 girls and boys teams at the same time as losing the U17 and U18 age groups. Still, we had 23 teams competing in two Leagues with notable success for the U14 Panthers winning the League and Cup double, the Tornados winning their Cup final and the Vulcans finishing as runners up.

In our efforts to provide a link into adult football it was fantastic to see so many former Colts players winning the League and Cup double for Ramsey Town U18 last season. We are linked to Ramsey Town through the County FA so this demonstrable evidence is supportive of our becoming a true Community club.

As we start the 24-25 season, we have 26 teams in Leagues including 9 girls teams plus development squads Wildcats and Dribblers, and the Rams Inclusion team who aren’t in a League as yet. This means 482 players who are currently attached to the club. We have 100 volunteers involved with Teams and as trustees and we thankyou most sincerely for your commitment but still need more helping out in the cabin and on the grounds team.

We maintained our 2 star accreditation with England FA and are now working towards achieving 3 star standard.

Although we lost our Fundraising Lead, the club has hosted a number of activity days and birthday parties and thanks go to Bethan Vaghela in her role as Facility Manager in promoting the club. We hosted a Referees course on 23[rd] August and our first ever tournament on 31 August which Bethan also organised with her sub-committee of volunteers.

We have attended a Future-of-English-Football event where the FA launched their new strategy for grassroots football to be started in the 2026/27 season. It aims to retain smaller formats for a year longer and actually begin the football journey with 3 v 3 football for the first year. As secretary I have also represented the club at County FA events aimed at increasing participation of women in football generally.

Our facility itself continues to gain many compliments week after week from visiting teams and visiting contractors have expressed great surprise in finding a centre such as ours in Ramsey. We are the third biggest club in Huntingdonshire and should feel proud of all that we have achieved.

Let’s continue to work hard to maintain the high profile of Ramsey Colts in the region.
