Secretary’s Report

The 2023-24 season saw another increase in our teams to 26 playing in Leagues and development teams. We celebrated having teams representing all age groups from U5/6 right up to U18. The season closed with the Stallions, Tigers and U18 folding or completing their Colts journey but some of those players have continued into adult football with Ramsey Town.

As we start the 24-25 season, we have 23 teams in Leagues plus development squads including 7 girls teams and Wildcats. We have 79 volunteers involved with Teams and as trustees but more helping out in the cabin and on the grounds and lining team and we thankyou most sincerely for your commitment.

We were delighted that two of our younger coaches, Jacob Calver and Rosie Mead, joined the HuntsFA Youth Council and now wish them well with their tertiary education..

We maintained our 2 star accreditation with England FA and are now working towards achieving 3 star standard thanks to the efforts of Jason Vaghela and his coach helpers for organising the inclusive football sessions on a Sunday known as RAMS but part of the COMETS programme of the FA.

We have hosted a number of football events and some community events including coaching Fun days from Peterborough Blues and ventured into mini-tournaments organised by Laura Holmes and Andy Morris.

During the season we were invited to a Future of English Football event where the FA were keen to capture the views of grassroots clubs on the issues facing football at our level. We highlighted spectator behaviour, the abuse problems that referees were facing and recruiting more volunteers to assist in running grassroots football. These proved quite commonly expressed themes which has led the FA to implement action plans this coming season to help address these concerns.

The significant rule changes for u7 to u11 football have been circulated and we look forward to seeing the changes implemented.

Let’s continue to work hard to maintain the high profile of Ramsey Colts in the region.
