The Trustees manage the club and all have equal say in decision making. We meet generally three times a year outside of general committee meetings and also exchange email dialogue when decisions are required in between meetings. The club is affiliated with HuntsFA, Hunts Youth League, CambsFA and S Tech Cambridgeshire Womens and Girl League and abides with their Safeguarding Children, Equality, and Anti-bullying policies. ## **Section C Objectives and activities** ## **Summary of the objects of the charity set out in its governing document** To provide physical education and coaching in football skills to boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 18. We promote the advancement of volunteer coaches who become qualified through an accredited FA course structure with a commitment to maintaining continuous development. To provide a facility for the playing of amateur football and the application of skills learnt in our programme for public benefit. ## **Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit)** We have run 16 teams from U7 to U15 in the 2020-2021 season including three girls-only teams plus a Wildcats programme for girls between 5 – 11. Each team has two coaches who must have DBS clearance, at least a Level 1 FA coaching certificate, plus Safeguarding and Emergency First Aid qualifications. March **2012** **TAR** 10 We are affiliated to the Hunts FA, Huntingdonshire Youth League, CambsFA and S Tech Cambridgeshire Womens and Girls League and our teams play in their competitions. These games are open to the public and parents, relatives and friends enjoy seeing the boys and girls develop in their play throughout the season. The players gain fitness and motor skills and develop socially being in a team environment. The learning which takes places enhances their game experience by learning spatial interaction skills, game awareness, decision-making and other psychological processing through attitudes and experiences of winning and losing, supporting one’s teammates and the benefits of working together toward a common goal. We base our coaching methods around the four corners model – Physical, Technical, Psychological and Social – and the England DNA, trying to provide a healthy environment in which the child can grow and learn in a supportive framework such that we can maintain their enjoyment and involvement in the game for a longer period. Socially this has a public benefit in that our member children grow to become better citizens and not prone to negative and destructive behaviours such as vandalism or other crimes. This year we have not been able to open our new clubhouse facility to the public due to Covid-19 restrictions but plan to resume public opening this coming year. Our clubhouse has the capacity to be hired out as a community meeting place and potentially for other sporting activities such that there becomes a wider public benefit than just our membership. It has successfully inspired an exciting community atmosphere when many teams are able to play home games at once on the one field. ## **Additional details of objectives and activities (Optional information)** You **may choose** to include further statements, where relevant, about: - policy on grantmaking; - policy programme related investment; - contribution made by volunteers. We have been pro-active in encouraging more volunteers as part of (a) our immediate needs but also (b) as part of succession planning. To this end we have supported three volunteers through the Level 1 Groundsmanship course and have developed a team rota for enlisting parental help in the Colts Cabin (refreshment centre) and on the fund-raising committee. We submitted grant applications for a Megaslitter and a new set of mobile goals as this need was identified through our Pitch Improvement Programme annual submission. The Pitch Improvement grant over a six-year period allows us to plan to be self-sufficient with our maintenance budgeting going forward. We have applied for a Defibrillator cabinet such that it can be mounted in a more accessible and visible place. During 2020-21 we were the recipient of grant support from Huntingdonshire District Council and Sport England to offset the losses through the interruptions to income and business due to Covid lockdowns and restrictions. These proved vital in maintaining our facility in the absence of income. ## Section D Achievements and performance March **2012** **TAR** 11 Section D Achievements and performance The Charity has achieved less this last twelve months compared **Summary of the main** to the previous two years however despite the Covid **achievements of the** interruption we saw a 49% growth in the number of children **charity during the year** playing football with us. This in itself can be seen as quite an achievement as we offered a physical and social outlet to children who had suffered through months of lockdown and significant restrictions in their lives. The onward costs of the new clubhouse and facility presented a challenge in a reduced-income year but we were able to apply for some business support grants to remain stable and we have now been able to secure a reserve fund pot in a separate account for when times get hard. Through the continued success of the Wildcats programme for introducing girls to football we were able to encourage the formation of three girls only teams who played in the Cambs FA S Tech league. We have now trained two more coaches and assistants including another female coach who also acts as team secretary. The initial girls teams has continued to be very successful, winning most of their games and a tournament. Four of the older girls are now trialling with Peterborough United. Now we are planning the training of another manager who wishes to form another girls team at u7 for the coming season. Through successful implementation of the 2019 Pitch Improvement Programme recommendations we have seen the quality of our pitches improve from basic to advanced rating. This investment has qualified us to approach the Football Foundation for a Pitch maintenance grant which we were successful in obtaining. This funding investment is already being utilised with materials, contractor fees and equipment. We have retained our Charter Standard status in March by ensuring all coaches had valid in-date DBS checks, Safeguarding Children and Emergency Aid qualifications. This programme has now closed and transferred into an England Football Accredited Club system. We have the rating of an Accredited Club. We are in the process of reviewing our policies ahead of the new season. The demolition of the old containers took place as planned and as a condition of the lease. We are now in the process of improving the access road with bitumen-based road planings. Our Cabin crew have undertaken their Food Hygiene certificate courses and we are ensuring our catering is meeting commercial level requirements. The Woodland Trust Pack of 100 saplings and hedge plants were planted and around 80% have survived and are growing well. We have purchased a Megaslitter to allow our grounds team to be pro-active in improving drainage when prolonged heavy rain is forecast. March **2012** **TAR** 12 ## **Section E Financial review** **Brief statement of the charity’s policy on reserves** Our policy is to never run ourselves too close to the line. To this end we have prepared a Reserve fund of £25000 which is ringfenced as an account separate to our main account. This was voted on at our Trustees meeting on 24/3/21 to be named Reserve Fund but act as a Sinking Fund. **Details of any funds materially in deficit** No funds are in material deficit. ## **Further financial review details (Optional information)** You **may choose** to include additional information, where relevant about: - the charity’s principal sources of funds (including any fundraising); - how expenditure has supported the key objectives of the charity; Our principal source of funds is our monthly subscriptions from members. Due to the Covid crisis we have had to offer parents to suspend the final month’s subs as we weren’t permitted to offer any football. This has put a pressure on us but we were able to claim an emergency grant from Hunts District council for business rate relief. Our fundraising encompasses encouraging our teams to each contribute a fundraising event in order to raise a target of £200 each.
