(1) The relief of persons in Romania with physical and/or mental and/or learning disabilities by the provision of, inter alia, food, drink, clothing, bedding, medical and dental care and equipment, occupational and other therapy, training courses and programmes, and such other goods, services and forms of relief as the trustees may deem appropriate, in each case with the aim of improving such persons' conditions of life.

(2) To advance the education of the Romanian public and in particular those in the health and social care professions in such topics as (but not

limited to) environmental awareness, therapy, employment opportunities, human rights, disability awareness and social inclusion.

Rowan Romania is a UK charity that is committed to supporting adults with special needs in a long-stay psychiatric hospital in Zarnesti, Romania. This hospital has around 150 patients, and is severely overcrowded and under-funded.

Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit)

The charity has raised funds in the UK through such activities as the sale of donated goods, pub quizzes, and encouraging donations, and then used such funds (working alongside a local representative in Romania, and in collaboration with local officials) to help employ care-workers at the hospital, and source and supply basic essentials for the patients.

The trustees have had regard to the guidance on public benefit issued by the Charity Commission when exercising any powers or duties to which the guidance would be relevant.
