Achievements and perfomiance
The local ne￿:_
The local BCP (Boumemouth, Christchurch and Poole) Counal considers that 10-15 % of local
residents have a disability that limits their daily activities. The county of Dorset has over 22Yo of
inhabitants over the age of 65. This in tum means a higher number with problems such as
physical functi¢Jning. mobility and stamina. It can also mean more people with the f￿ling of
isolation. anxiety, detyession and social exdusion. At the same ts'me. some 14% of children and
young people up to the age of 25 receive Speaal Needs supp(xL
The sailing experien￿ provided by Pcde Sailability can be Irfe changing. A sailing session in the
safety of Poole Hart)our has all the elements of increasing wellbeing. Re-connecting with people,
keeping leaming. being active arKI at one the natural environment builds confidence and
social interaction. For ourvolunteers. our activities allow them to share their expertise and to
give backto the community.
Sailing sessions
In 2025 we ran 50 of the 80 planned member arKI outreach sessions. We also ran 43 volunteer
development sessions with only 2 being Can￿lled. Can￿lIationS are due to inclementweather,
usually high wind. The wind limitfor ourvolunteerdevelopment sessions is higherthan for self-
development to help prepare our skippers for sudden inclement Conditions. Less than 50/0 of
these sessions were stopped against over a third for member and outreach. The averagewind
strength is increasing with climate change and we continue to work towards finding ways to
continue our member and outreach sessions in strongerv4inds in a safe manner.
Our members were also able to take part in 5 "big boar days Parkstone Yacht Club where
they could safely sail on larger boats out into Poole Bay. We are extremely grateful to both the
club for partnering in building strong protocols for these events and to the individual yacht
owners who treat our members to a memorabte day on thewater.
Safety b¢%
Our safety boat continues to provide ex￿lIent safety cover and we ran a number of Man
Overtjoard recovery sessions prior to the season using an RNLI dummy to strengthen our
recovery from the vRter drills.

As always. our income comes from a number ofvaried sourcw .
Membership fees- we were able to maintsin the same level of charJr e forthe 2025 season
and a similar level of incometo 2024.
Grants-we received a grant from our lo(21 council to keep ourvolunteers up to date with
their FirstAid training and to bring on new reuuits for driving our Safety Boat
