Particular energy is directed to monitoring ‘Free to good home’ adverts and warning the advertisers of the risks and dangers to the dogs of inappropriate or uncontrolled rehoming. Wherever possible, we offer to ensure that said dog is fostered, assessed and rehomed into suitable, checked safe homes. During the course of this reporting period, the charity has continued to take in a number of dogs from homes that were no longer able to care for them appropriately and from shelters and has arranged their fostering and assessment for suitability for placement in new homes. In support of these activities, the charity has arranged for the home checking of potential fosters or adopters and the transportation of dogs throughout the mainland UK to new homes. Many of these functions were undertaken by the charities own volunteers Arrangements were made for all dogs handled through the charity to be veterinary checked, treated, neutered, wormed, micro chipped and vaccinated as needed. Welfare advise and reference to behavioural advice has been offered on numerous occasions to other Border Collie owners who were experiencing problems with their dogs. With the current economic situation, we are finding that supporters and the general public are appearing to be less willing and able to donate as much as they would like and we would like to see. The increased workload on volunteers has also been noticeable. We have seen an increased number of dogs being put up for adoption by owners and this in turn has obviously impacted out finances. In support of these activities, the charity has arranged for the home checking of potential fosters or adopters and the transportation of dogs throughout the mainland UK to new homes. We are continuing with our aim in more fencing and drainage to increase the areas that we can graze stock to keep the grass down which in turn gives us much larger areas to exercise the dogs. We continue to spend lots of time this year clearing overgrown areas of scrub in order to graze these areas to have the ability to exercise the dogs and train and assess them in much improved working and play areas. This work continues and is making progress as and when finances and weather allows. We continue to try and raise funds for a new kennel block but rather than the traditional wooden construction, we are seeking modern galvanised frame and GRP type panels and insulation. This should ensure a greater longevity of the unit. We have attended a couple of open day ‘Meet the dogs’ events to raise awareness of our organisation and what we do. However, with the current economic situation, there seems to be far less disposable income from the public at large. The track that allows access to the grazed areas is coming together well and now we are sorting the drainage to keep the track from flooding during harsh weather. Our aim is to continue and increase these activities and increase our profile on social media and we are also hoping to have a greater online presence this year by using various social media platforms. Overall it has been a tough year with an increased amount of dogs being pushed towards us and a much increased total cost from veterinary fees. In short, we have endured greater costs, an increased amount of dogs needing our help but with a decreased amount of funding, resources and more importantly volunteers to carry out the day to day tasks that this all entails. The trustees who served during the year and up to the date of this report are set out on page I. ## **Structure, governance and management** During the year the Charity had three trustees who undertook all the relevant activities for the Charity. ## **Objectives and activities** The objective of the Charity is to re-home dogs. The Charity is governed by its Constitution dated 11[th] Apri 2016 ## **Financial review** During the year the Charities funds increased from £28237 to £6417. ## **Statement of trustees' responsibilities** The trustees are responsible for preparing the annual report and the financial statements in accordance with applicable law and United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice. Law applicable to charities in England and Wales requires the trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year which give a true and fair view of charity's financial activities during the year and of its financial position at the end of the year. ln preparing financial statements giving a true and fair view, the trustees are required to: select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently; make judgements and estimates that are reasonable and prudent; and prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the charity will continue in operation. The trustees are responsible for keeping proper accounting records which disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the charity and enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Charities Act 2011. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the charity and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities. Accounting policies** The principal accounting policies are summarized below. The accounting policies have been applied consistently throughout the year and the preceding year. ## **1.1. Basis of accounting** The financial statements of the charity. Which is a public benefit entity under FRS 102, have been prepared in accordance with the Charities SORP (FRS I02) 'Accounting and Reporting by Charities: Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland (FRS 102) (effective I Jan 2019)', Financial Reporting Standard 102 'The Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland' and the Charities Act 2011. Ter financial statements have been prepared under the historic cost convention, ## **1.2. Incoming resources** All incoming resources are included in the statement of financial activities when the charity is entitled to the income and the amount can be quantified with reasonable accuracy. ## **1.3. Resources expended** Expenditure is recognized as expenditure as soon as there is a legal or constructive obligation committing the charity to that expenditure, it is probable that a transfer of economic benefits will be required in settlement and the amount of the obligation can be measured reliably. Charitable expenditure comprises those costs incurred by the charity in the delivery of its activities and services for its beneficiaries. It includes both costs that can be allocated directly to such activities and those costs of an indirect nature necessary to support them. All expenditure is inclusive of irrecoverable VAT. ## **1.4.
