persons and shelters seeking to rehome Border Collies who may be in distressf ul situations due to unsuitsble accommodation, changed family circumstances, illness or death. Particular energy is directed to monitoring 'Free to good home, adverts and warning the advertisers of the risks and dangers to the dogs of inappropriate or uncontrolled rehoming. Wherever possible, we offer to ensure Ihal said dog is fostered, assessed and rehomed into suitsble, checked safe homes. During the course of this reporting period, the charity has continued to take in a number of dogs from homes that were no longer able to care for them appropriately and from shelters and has arranged their fostering and assessment for suitability for placemenl in new homes. In support of these activities, the charity has arranged for the home checking of potential fosters or adopters and the transportation of dogs throughout the mainland UK to new homes. Many of these functions were undertaken by the charities own volunteers Summary of the maln activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard lo the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit) Arrangements were made for all dogs handled through the charity to be veterinary checked, trealed, neutered, wormed, micro chipped and vaccinated as needed. Welfare advise and reference to behavioural advice has been offered on numerous occasions to other Border Collie owners who were experiencing problems with their dogs. We have seen an increase of unwanted pups and these take a much greater amount of time, effort and money to get to a point where they can then be rehomed. This has taken a lot from not only our finances but the volunteers themselves due to the much increased workload. Additional details of objectives and activities (Optional information) TAR March 2012

Section D Achievements and performance Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year In the last year we have been able to work alongside other groups and charitable organisations that look after the welfare of people who have been coming lo terms with personal stress or illness and we have encouraged them to come and see the dogs and lives1k as part of their rehabilitstion and personal growth. We have invested in better fencing and drainage to increase the areas that we can graze stock to keep the grass down which in turn gives us much larger areas to exercise the dogs. We have spent a good deal of time and effort in the last year clearTng overgrown areas of scrub in order to graze these areas to have the ability to exercise the dogs and train and assess them in much improved working and play areas. We are looking to replace some of the older wooden kennels with ones of a much more durable and sustainable design. The quality of all wood and timber in the current Glimate has dropped dramatically and so we are looking to give the dogs shelter in much more weatherproof and more secure kennelling. We have attended regular open days at a leading national pet store to raise awareness of our organisation and what we do. It has been very successful and has once more led to several positive enquiries. Our aim is to continue and increase these activities and increase our profile.
