Introduction

The Whole Autism Family was founded in October 2014 and received Charity staus in April 2016.

As a committee we are always striving to find new creative ideas to support the charity so it can provide support to as many people with autism as possible, and we have set out our aims and targets below.

Aims

We aim to offer the following through our charity:

Provision of a support network for parents, carers, siblings and other individuals affected by autism.

To hold regular informal meetings providing an environment where all family members can come together to share experiences, develop without judgement, along with the opportunity to develop a support network.

To have monthly professional guests, from a range of different services, including health care professionals, other charities and individuals to promote health and well-being.

Raise awareness of autism, including the impact autism has on family life.

Promote increased awareness of autistic spectrum disorder within the community.

We aim to publish a quarterly newsletter so the wider community is aware of the latest news within autism, updates and events that are taking place.

Involve local community in raising awareness by encouraging them to attend social events.

Present areas of work

Weekly support sessions with guest speakers

Community fundraising events involving families eg Colour Run, Balloon Launch, Family Fashion Show

Campaigning to abolish waiting times for Autism assessment and diagnosis via news coverage, visits to Westminster Monthly newsletter with latest news within Autism, updates and events

Planned new work

Out of school club Facilitated outings Awareness raising presentations Siblings support group Carers Day event Resilience Training for Carers Paid guest speakers

Who are the beneficiaries of the organisation?

Parents and carers of children and young people with Autism Spectrum Conditions (diagnosed or undiagnosed), their parents, carers and siblings.

The group will fulfil its aims in accordance with charity law and the Whole Autism Family governing document by :

Providing access to the service Having a monthly professional guest speaker to offer support and information Publishing a monthly newsletter Involving local community in raising awareness Raising funds and receiving contributions where appropriate Publicising and promoting the work undertaken Organising meetings, training courses and events Working with similar groups and exchanging information and advice with them Taking any lawful action which would help it to fulfil these aims. Borrowing money and charging any part of its property as repayment of the money borrowed Buying, taking on or leasing or in exchange, hiring or otherwise acquiring any property and maintaining it Selling, leasing or otherwise disposing of any property belonging to the group Employing staff Depositing or investing funds

Conclusion

Since receiving Charity status The Whole Autism Family has continued to grow as as a charity and support more and more people. The charity received an award at the 2018 My Mirfield Awards for its hard work and dedication to support the family's of people with autism. In the coming years we hope to continue in the same vain with our aims and targets and to continue to grow and support more people with the help of the public so that the charity will be made more aware of to more people.
