TRUSTEES' REPORT:

FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31st DECEMBER 2024

The trustees present their report and accounts for the year ended 31 December 2024 Governing document.

4TheChildren is a UK registered Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) established in 2016. 4TC is a children's charity. 4TC seeks to promote sustainable economic and social development by working with local communities through relief and development programmes in the UK, Africa and around the World through whatever means the trustees see fit. 4TC is primarily concerned with the safety, welfare and human rights of children. By collaborating with local communities & schools through relief and development programmes. 4TC works wherever the need is greatest, irrespective of color, creed, status or religion.

We support local organisations in the UK that are best placed to understand local needs. We also provide help when there is a crisis abroad through other NGO's.

The support we provide varies according to the needs of the child/ children and their families. This support typically includes, breakfast/ lunch/ dinner meals, school uniform support, shoes and clothing, winter-wear, bedding, white-goods, toys, etc.

We also sponsor a local football team. As well as this we support local projects when we can. In Africa we have an on-going project called 4TheChildren of Gambia, where we are supporting a Gambian orphanage and school that houses 97 orphan and single-parent children. As well as this we have a continuing aid program to help the Syrian refugees in Europe, particularly in France.

4TheChildren's Aims & Objectives:

4TC works towards attaining the following 3 objectives which are very highly sought after by all members of staff both here in the UK and abroad.

Objective 1

The relief of children in poverty, hardship, distress and sickness anywhere in the world, by the provision of food, clothing, sanitation, clean drinking water & education.

Objective 2

The advancement of education of those children in need and orphans anywhere in the world by the provision of training centers, workshops and educational establishments.

Objective 3

To actively explore new means of support for underprivileged children in the UK thus allowing them an equal chance of performing well at school and potentially breaking the cycle of poverty.

Our main focus is on refugee children and underprivileged children from low-income families. Additionally, we aim to provide a level of support for their families. However, we also seek to help children internationally where aid and relief is most needed.

Appointment of trustees.

New trustees are nominated by members of the board of trustees & general members of the charity. They are then interviewed and appointed in positions according to their skill set and knowledge to contribute to the charity.

Trustee induction & training

The new trustees are given full training & briefed on their legal obligations under charity laws and regulations; the committee and decision making process; the recent financial performance and the future plans and objectives of the charity.

Organisation

The board of trustees and members and volunteers administer the charity.

Risk management policy

All significant activities undertaken are subject to a risk review as part of the initial project assessment and implementation. Major risks are identified and ranked in terms of their potential impact and likelihood of occurrence.

Major risks are those that will have a significant effect on operational performance, achievement of the charity's aims and objectives and meeting the expectations of its beneficiaries, and supporters. The trustees, on an on-going basis, review these risks and ensure sufficient systems are in place.

Objectives of the charity, principal activities & organisation of our work

The charity's objectives and its principal activity continues to be that of providing relief to the suffering of victims of poverty, social injustice and natural disasters and to improve the quality of life of the underprivileged children in communities through education, health and social development. The charity continues to explore new ways of improving the conditions of children.

The charity works with local school teachers to identify and reach out to the most vulnerable and underprivileged children in the local community, this includes child-refugees from broken backgrounds.

The charity is organised so that the trustees meet regularly to manage its affairs. There are trustees and members & volunteers in the management, who manage the day-to-day administration of the charity and organise fundraising initiatives.

Throughout the year, 4TheChildren worked diligently to implement the programmes that were planned at the beginning of the year.

However, our overall performance and donation collections saw a significant decline. This was largely due to the ongoing impact of the global economic downturn, and most critically, the closure of our charity shop, which had been our primary source of income.

Despite these challenges, our trustees and volunteers continued to make every effort to deliver our initiatives on time and within budget. Thanks to their hard work and commitment, we were able to keep some of our programs running. However, it is with deep regret that we must inform you that due to a continuing shortage of financial donations, a significant drop-in volunteer support, and a declining number of active members, 4TheChildren may be forced to close its doors in the near future.

Our current programs have only been possible thanks to the extraordinary dedication of our trustees, and volunteers, many of whom have also contributed financially when possible. The majority of our donations over the year have been in-kind, coming generously from members of the public and some local businesses.

These in-kind donations have included non-perishable food items, dry goods, clothing, footwear, and other essentials. Our volunteers have worked tirelessly to sort, clean, and package these items before distributing them to the homeless and low-income families in need and some food banks and sometime items donated to other charities. Where possible.

Some of our projects were funded entirely through these in-kind contributions, while others were supported through personal donations from friends, family, and our volunteers. In all our efforts,

we have tried to tailor our humanitarian projects to match the causes and needs highlighted by our donors, ensuring the support we provide reaches the most vulnerable.

One of the major setbacks for the charity occurred when we were forced to close the charity shop. The property had become derelict, and we simply could not afford the cost of repairs or renovations. Since then,

we have been searching for a donated premises to reopen our shop or at least establish a small office to operate from, but unfortunately, we have not been successful.

The closure of the charity shop dealt a major blow to the charity funding. It had been the primary

income stream, and after its closure, cash donations dropped dramatically. We moved operations to an industrial small unit, where we continued our work solely through in-kind donations and the dedication of our small team of trustees and volunteers.

The period of 2020 –2024 brought even greater pressure due to covid and economic challenges, with nearly all support coming in the form of goods rather than financial donations.

Despite these difficulties, our team worked hard to bring relief to those in need. During the Christmas season of 2024, volunteers from 4TheChildren provided some gifts to vulnerable children and families in the local community, bringing smiles and a sense of hope during a difficult time.

We also distributed food parcels, ready meals, winter clothing, blankets, and footwear to the homeless and to some struggling low-income families and to some food banks. These efforts were entirely supported through in-kind donations, and once again, carried out by our committed team of volunteers. We are proud of everything we have achieved despite the odds but we are now at a critical juncture.

With out urgent support through financial donations, new members, and more volunteer involvement 4TheChildren will not be able to continue operating much longer.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who has supported the charity so far, and we remain hopeful that renewed community engagement might help us continue our mission. However, if this situation does not change soon, we may have no choice but to close the charity permanently.

Helping the homeless.

In 2024 4TC donated some food parcels, ready meals, winter goods, winter clothing, blankets, footwear, and food were distributed to some of the needy & homeless.

In addition, 4TC distributed needed goods to help some of low-income families to help them with their daily life. All these projects have been completed through in-kind donations.

Future projects in the United Kingdom:

UK

4TC has a number of new projects planned for the coming year that we hope will have a good impact on a child's school performance.

Sponsorship by helping with some school meals when possibly. Breakfast Club, and assistance with school uniforms and shoes are just a few of the projects.

Some of these projects In-kind donations will be used for these types of programs to help the neediest children.

Support for the child's families’ living conditions, such as a new mattress and beddings, and other local children's activities.

4thechildren future prospects.

4TC will attempt to expand and secure finance for existing and new projects by building on its present capacity.

We will continue to focus entirely on child welfare issues, and we will endeavor to enlist the help of our existing contributors and raise awareness about these kinds of programs.

Due to the present economy's financial climate which has impacted our revenue streams for critical initiatives, we will be searching for alternate funding sources in the future.

Year-end financial analysis

Financial Activities are reported in the 2024 financial statement, We intend to work to enhance these numbers in the next few years if possible.

Future Investment Capabilities.

The trustees have the power to invest in such assets as they see fit according to the charities law in England and Wales.

Occasionally, the charity must respond very swiftly to specific catastrophes, emergencies or tragedies. The charity keeps all of its funds in readily accessible bank accounts and has no desire to invest in short-term deposits or real estate.

4Thechildren are considering opening a charity shop in order to gather donations and to be financially able to complete the demanding and potential new projects.

Reserves Policy in the Future.

When possible, the trustees have defined the future level of reserves that the organisation should have. These are required to bridge the gap between help and emergency spending and the receiving of resources and donations, which are typically increased following disasters or emergencies.

Statement of trustees' responsibilities.

The trustees are required by law to prepare financial statements for each financial year, which give a true and fair view of the financial activities of the charity and of its financial position at the end of that year. In preparing those financial statements the trustees are required to:

Accounting standards and statements of recommended practice, subject to any material departures disclosed and explained in the financial statements;
