|Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.|Para 1.20|NWTCA is a charitable, cultural, educational
non-profit
organisation
dedicated
to
increase, promote, foster friendship, public
knowledge and understanding of the
Turkish
culture
and
language.
NWTCA organises community events and
activities where people of all ages and
nationalities
can
come
together
to
experience Turkish culture through Turkish
music,
festivals,
dance,
food
and
art. NWTCA plays an integral role in
bringing the Turkish-British community
together in the North West of England.
One of the main services we offer is
"community language teaching" of Turkish
for children and adults. This has enabled us
to offer a wider range of classes and
activities for people of Turkish origin or
people
with
some
kind
of
Turkish
connection. Some children who have
attended our classes could not previously
speak a word of Turkish, now they have
mastered the basics and have a sense of
their culture and background-our weekend
sessions are particularly valued by single
parents whose children live with primary
carers with no knowledge of Turkish.
As children move through study modules
and pass progress tests included in the
materials, they develop a sense of academic
achievement & personal achievement
independent of more formal language
learning.
The Turkish lessons we provide, also serve
as a social hub for the Turkish community as
we have a waiting area for parents to
socialise when they wait for their children.
We began the new academic year on
08/10/23and our weekly lessons started
face to face and online. We clearly see the
advancement in our student’s learning of
Turkish language and culture. The students|

build strong friendships and take part in our friendly art and writing contests and workshops as well. We have supported our students and their families by offering the online Turkish lessons for free of charge. The children kept their cameras off during the lessons and the lessons have not been recorded to stay in line with Data protection regulations. Children and adults develop a sense of citizenship, not only as part of discovering their Turkish identity but also as a result of finding a valued place as a bicultural individual within an inclusive British society. Our volunteers developed skillsets that helped them to raise their employability and boosted their confidence. 23/04/23 7.NWTCA 23rd April Childrens Festival at The Elegance Banqueting Suite.
