Mrs. Johnson became a Trustee on 6[th] December 2022. ## **Governing Document** The CIO’s remit is “The Running of the village Hall for the benefit of residents in the village and surrounding area and to do so at prices which cover running costs and are affordable to all likely users.” ## **Financial Policy** The charity operates three funds which operate on a Receipts and Payments basis. - General Fund - for the regular operation of the charity - Designated Fund - held by way of two investments as a contingency - Restricted Fund - for grants income and expenditure ## **Public Benefit** The charity continues to provide a Village Hall as a benefit for local organisations and individuals. The trustees keep the hire charges for community groups as low as possible so as not to restrict access. More community-based activities are being introduced. ## **Activities and achievements** The major activity of the charity is to manage the village hall for the benefit of the residents of the local area. The hall is widely used for many family and community activities, especially children’s parties and family celebrations. Following the Covid pandemic, the hall lost a few regular groups but other groups have filled many of the gaps. Last year’s report said “the trustees’ objective is now to diversify more to give a wider scope of interests for the whole of the local community.” Although delayed somewhat by the lockdowns, towards the end of the year, various activities were introduced. The IT sessions and afternoon tea and cake were especially popular. As the trustees, you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (“the Act”). I have completed my examination. I confirm I have found no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached. It should be noted that I have not obtained independent verification of investments or balances held at the bank which are individually in excess of £10,000 at the balance sheet date. I would like to make the following comments to the trustees for their consideration: - Consideration to the opening of an interest-bearing account where surplus funds not required on a daily basis can be held. - Following the sad passing of Keith Johnson, consideration on how future investments are managed/monitored, particularly in times of financial uncertainty.
