Haddenham Community Vehicle Charity No 1166286 Charity Commission Annual Report
The year 2020/2021 was dominated by the Covid Pandemic. We did not operate from the beginning of the first lockdown in March 2020 until late August 2020. Following guidance primarily from the C.T.A we developed a Covid safe procedure for operation. We operated a limited service using only volunteer drivers who were prepared to drive at that time. Most of our older drivers withdrew their services, in line with the Governments definition of vulnerable adults and several have not returned.
Once the Covid Vaccination programme commenced our operations increased and we were proud to make our contribution to the National effort.
As part of our Covid operations we re-focused our efforts to the reduction of social isolation particularly in the villages surrounding Haddenham where there is limited or no public transport. Whilst this has increased our workload we have been able to increase our number of volunteer drivers with new recruits. It is fair to say that the pandemic has brought the best out of people.
As the country has opened up then so we have been able to carry out more social trips for Clients who had been trapped indoors for many months.
The gratitude of our Clients continues to inspire our Committee and volunteers alike.
We make no charge to our Clients but welcome donations. Donations were down owing to the reduced activity of the Vehicle during the worst of the pandemic but are increasing once again as we carry more Clients.
