## **Moldovan Mission** ## **Trustees’ Annual Report for 2023** Name of Charity - Moldovan Mission Charity No. 1166263 Charity address: 142 Harrowby Road, Grantham, Lincolnshire NG31 9DU ## Trustees During 2023 the Charity had four Trustees – Neil Robinson (Chair). David Lynn (Secretary and Treasurer), Ian McKnight, and Kyle Craig. Dermot Parsons stepped down from chairing meeting of the Trustees following the AGM in 2023 and Neil Robinson took over the role. ## Purpose The principal purpose of Moldovan Mission is the advancement of the Christian Faith in Moldova according to Biblical principles through encouraging and facilitating religious practice by existing followers or adherents and attracting new followers or adherents. The mission may also advance education and carry out other charitable purposes in Moldova and/or other parts of the world. ## Activities and projects in 2023 In fulfilling its Purpose Moldovan Mission engaged in a range of activities either on its own or with others. Mark McCormick is the principal pastor fronting the work of the Mission in Moldova. Mark’s work in 2023 was focused in the following areas. Since Mark and Mari have relocated from their home in Northern Ireland for past 10 years to Long Eaton in England to be within convenient rail distance of Luton Airport for flights to their home in Romania or for mission visits to Moldova. Mark travels to Moldova approximately every two months to meet with the Mission’s church planting partners. He has been involved practically in the ministry with these pastors in evangelism, training and visiting the poor with them to deliver aid packets as well as a mentoring them. In addition, he takes part in the Autumn Missions across various parts of Moldova. The Mission continues to be encouraged in this last year that doors for the ministry of Moldovan Mission not only continue to remain open in the South of Moldova, but new doors are continuing to open for the mission to work in the West, Centre and North and East of Moldova. In the North two of our mission’s church planter partners have started new works in villages which have no evangelical church of any kind and Mark had the privilege of participating in these ministries. In the East our partner there has been establishing a new work in a new village and making plans for starting in another village next year. Likewise in the centre and West our partners have all been establishing newly planted works and making plans for starting new works next year Moldova remains Europe’s poorest country and following a failed harvest in 2019, the Covid pandemic and help with the Ukraine refugee crisis, it was clear that even more people than usual would fall into serious financial difficulties by wintertime. Giving funding to pastors to supply food aid packs continues to be a key ministry of Moldovan Mission to feed needy families and this last year we have given out 1500 aid packs to poor families throughout Moldova – 40,000£ a ministry we were able to do due to the generous giving of our supporters The autumn mission based on Project FRANK was flourishing again after covid restrictions were totally lifted with once again over 1500 people hearing the gospel message in small groups in all parts of Moldova with our partners Again around 500 people made commitments and many of thee have gone onto baptism since. Freedom of movement has meant that Mark has been able to be in Moldova frequently spending quality mentoring time with the pastors and planters we partner with We have also been able to have conferences and training times with our partners on various relevant themes The mission continued to provide financial and spiritual support to 4 church planters in the South 1 in the East 1 in the North and 3 centrally We have also taken into partnership Costel Cheptea, a planter we have known for some years. He is from Balti in the North and has planted 12 churches in 20 years We expect DV that this will lead to more churches being planted and also new planters we will enter into partnership with The partnership with pastor Vasile Surdu in both mentoring and financial support continues to prosper. We have now progressed to a work being established in a new village called Cotiujeni and aid and evangelistic mission done by Moldovan Mission alongside Vasile is seeing this work grow We have, in 2023, continued to support a church in Irpin, Ukraine that we began to help pretty soon after the war started. We send money every 3 months which enables the church there to provide fellowship meals and aid packs to ones who have moved to Irpin because their original homes in Mariupol or other bombed areas have been destroyed – this gives the church there a way of helping practically while ministering to these traumatised souls The Trustees have not received any emoluments other than authorised expenses. The charity’s trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144 of the Charities Act 2011 (The Charities Act) and that an independent examination is needed. It is my responsibility to: - examine the accounts under section 145 of the Charities Act ***** to follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission (under section 145(5)(b) of the Charities Act, and - to state whether particular matters have come to my attention. **Basis of independent examiner’s statement:** My examination was carried out in accordance with general Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters.
