## Transition Town Telford Treasurer’s report to the AGM Year Ending 31[st] March 2026 

Our financial year ended on 31[st ] March 2026 and I have prepared receipts and payments accounts as required by the Charity Commission for a Charitable Incorporated Organisation with the turnover we currently have. The accounts have not been audited as this is not a requirement, again due to our level of turnover. Please see separate sheet for the details. 

## **Notes on the accounts** 

1. Our unrestricted income from donations for the year consisted of £540.43 at our events. This represents an increase of some 11% over last year. An increased amount was donated at two Sustainable Saturday events run by the Climate Action Hub, and I have included these as “events” alongside our three traditional dates. This year we did not receive any sundry donations outside our events, so compared with last year, our income is almost unchanged. 

Income from the events splits down as follows: 

   - Grow Local £276.76 

   - Harvest Local £89.55 

   - Seedy Saturday £106.10 

   - Sustainable Saturdays £68.02 

2. The investment income from our investments in Big Solar Co-op of £20 and the Telford and Wrekin Climate Action Investment holding of £7.07. The T&W Climate Action Investment also repaid £97.65 in line with the planned repayment schedule and is now worth £263.60, a sum that will be repaid with interest over the next two financial years. 

3. The subscriptions and donations represent our support of national organisation Garden Organic including membership of their seed bank. 

4. We have seen a significant increase in expenditure, which is masked by the fact that we are no longer paying out a grant to the Wellington Cycle Delivery Service. Removing that item from last year’s expenses, we have seen a 32% increase in outgoings, largely due to higher expenditure on event venue hire and community garden costs. 

## **General Notes on the 2025 accounts** 

The levels of donations at our events are broadly in line with last year. 

Our outgoings for the year exceeded our income by less than £100, leaving us with a small deficit which is easily covered from reserves. 

We end the year with unrestricted cash reserves broadly in line with last year. We have very healthy reserves compared to our expenditure, holding over 33 month’s running costs in reserve. This figure is, however significantly lower than last year due to the increase in outgoings.

## **TRANSITION TELFORD AGM JUNE 2026** 

## **CHAIRS REPORT Covering period June 2025 – June 2026** 

First of all, a big thank you to everyone: to our Treasurer, Vice chair, Secretary and Trustees. To everyone who came to any or all of our events. 

## POLICIES 

The need for policies on the website was established in 2024.  We need to address this as a matter of urgency.  Some are already up there, available to view. 

Our usual 3 annual events went ahead and were successful. Harvest Local at Hadley, with Emma from SGFP – location not ideal Seedswap – at Sutton Hill with Repair Cafe Grow Local – at Dawley Allotments.  (at time of writing, still to go ahead) 

Work is continuing on Leegomery Community Garden which has welcomed some new volunteers;  also Dawley Allotments, Madeley orchard.  David is doing sterling work promoting EV’s and James promoting cycling.   I will let Robert speak for himself in his report! 

We are trying to work with other “green” organisations and initiatives when time, staffing and energy allow: 

Climate Action Hub – at their Sustainable Saturday events. Repair Café – by sharing venues when suitable 

SGFP – joining Emma to map allotments and community gardens in Telford. 

A couple of exciting events coming up will be the **Green Fair** in August 2026 hosted by CAH and the **Public Emergency Briefing** in July 2026, hosted by All saints Eco church and supported by Transition Telford and CAH.  (Big thanks to Alison and Hugh Burton for being the impetus behind the latter.) In the upcoming August Green Fair, our focus will be on climate adaption and resilience 

Most of us here have been with Transition for a number of years. We would not still be here if we did not think it important.  Indeed as time has gone on, we see that Transition is critical for life on earth to continue. 



Over the years we have struggled with numbers of people.  Members coming and going.  David and I recently paid a trip to the Centre for Alternative Technology and it was an education in more ways than one. What was alternative in the 70s when they started, is now educating leaders in their field. 

So do we get “burn-out”? Yes Do we sometimes despair when we look at the world and those in government? Yes.  But I’ll keep on doing what I can because “no-one is too small to make a difference”.     And there is much positive news out there.
