CHAIRS REPORT AGM JUNE 2024 This report covers the period July 2023 – June 2024.
First of all thanks to David as Treasurer and Rob as Vice Chair, for their support and help. Thanks to all of you, we could not survive without you!
In September 2023, we were required to draw up and establish various policies as part of our charitable status. To date we have three on the website. We do need to make progress here.
We were looking forward to Wellington’s first Green Festival in 2023, but were rained/blown off by Storm Anthony.
Together with CAH, we visited PODS to work with the children in August. We attended an event in Hollinswood led by the Parish council. Again successful and connections were made. Good to see Hollinswood and Randley parish council moving forward to become plastic free.
Garden Cove filmed the community garden in Leegomery. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J4RHE4CfhZM&ab_channel=GardenCoveUK
Community orchard planting at All Saints churchyard – a project spearheaded by Rob Francis and All Saints eco-church.
TWBCCP event with Rob Hopkins on 11[th] October 2023, great to network with so many people and to meet the man who started the Transition Network
Links strengthened with SGFP through Janine Potter and the projects she is involved in – King Street Mosque, possible market garden at Madeley.
This tear has seen us working together with CAH, Repair Café and Terracycle on our 3 annual events and some Sustainable Sundays. We continue to support Darren at Donnington Community orchard when we can, funding the apple ID day and pruning workshop.
We support and promote community gardens and orchards and work on a sustainable food system where we can. We are blessed with Seed Guardians, Master Composters, years of experience and enthusiasm between us in varied fields.
There has been stirling work from others in the fields of energy, travel but I shall let those people speak for themselves!
More opportunities have already some our way and we can look forward to linking with other bodies/organisations and working towards a better future.
