All trustees give their time voluntarily and receive no remuneration or other benefits. ## **OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES** The aims of the pre-school are to enhance the development and education of children primarily under statutory school age. This is achieved by: - Encouraging parents to understand and provide for the needs of their children through community groups and by: offering appropriate play, education and care facilities, family learning and extended hours groups, together with the rights of parents, to take responsibility for and to become involved in the activities of such groups ensuring that such groups are for opportunities for all children whatever their race, culture, religion means or ability. - Encouraging the study of needs of such children and their families and promoting public interest in, and recognition of, such needs in the local area. - Instigating and adhering to and furthering the aims and objectives of the pre-school learning alliance. Our main activities are to provide learning and education for children aged between 2 years and 5 years in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage. We have referred to the guidance contained in the Charity Commission’s general guidance on public benefit when reviewing our aims and objectives and in planning our future activities. 3 REGISTERED CHARITY NUMBER 1166218 **GREAT DODDINGTON PRESCHOOL TRUSTEES ANNUAL REPORT YEAR ENDED 31 AUGUST 2024** ## **ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE** We started Sept 2023 with a near full roll call of children eligible for funding throughout the year. Due to continual government changes with funding for younger children we saw a greater interest in parents wishing to take advantage of the funding. Due to a greater staff children ratio and our setting we have not increased how many young children we are enrolling. Fundraising has been minimal this year due to numerous factors outside of our control. It has not been as good as other years but we are very grateful to all of the volunteers and staff that have been involved. Thankfully our spending over this financial year has been kept to a minimum so the preschool has balanced less income with less outgoings. ## **FINANCIAL REVIEW** The charity’s main source of income is derived from the provision of preschool learning and education. Funds are paid either by North Northants County Council or privately depending on the age of the child participating. Other income is derived from the provision of a breakfast club and various fundraising activities. We now operate a digital payment system for smaller fundraising activities. The very limited cash we may collect is promptly deposited into the charity bank account. ## **TRUSTEES’ RESPONSIBILITY STATEMENT** The trustees are responsible for preparing the Trustees Annual Report and the financial statements in accordance with applicable law and United Kingdom Accounting Standards. The law applicable to charities in England and Wales requires the trustees to prepare financial statements for each financial year. Under that law the trustees have elected to prepare the financial statements in accordance with United Kingdom Generally Accepted Accounting Practice (United Kingdom Accounting Standards and applicable law). Under company law the trustees must not approve the financial statements unless they are satisfied that they give a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the company and the income and expenditure of the company for that period. In preparing these financial statements, the trustees are required to: - Select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently - Observe the methods ad principles of the Charities SORP - Make judgements and accounting estimates that are reasonable and prudent and - Prepare the financial statements on the going concern basis unless it is inappropriate to presume that the company will continue in operation. 4 REGISTERED CHARITY NUMBER 1166218 ## **GREAT DODDINGTON PRESCHOOL TRUSTEES ANNUAL REPORT YEAR ENDED 31 AUGUST 2024** The trustees are responsible for keeping adequate accounting records that are sufficient to show and explain the company’s transactions and disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the financial position of the company and enable them to ensure that the financial statements comply with the Companies Act 2006. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the company and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities. The trustees are who served during the year and up to the date of this report are listed on page 1. Approved by the trustees and signed on their behalf. ACCOUNTING POLICIES** ## **Basis of accounting** The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention and in accordance with applicable United Kingdom accounting standards and the requirements of the Statement of Recommended Practice ‘Accounting and Reporting by Charities’ issued in March 2005 (SORP 2005). ## **Funds Structure** Unrestricted funds comprise those funds which the trustees are free to use for any purpose in furtherance of the charitable objectives. ## **Incoming Resources** All incoming resources are recognised once the charity has entitlement to the resources, it is certain that the resources will be received and the monetary value of incoming resources can be measured with sufficient reliability. ## **Grants and Donations** Grants and Donations are only included in the Statement of Financial Position when the charity has unconditional entitlement to the resources. ## **Resources Expended** Liabilities are recognised as resources expended as soon as there is a legal or constructive obligation committing the charity to the expenditure.
