Trustees’ Annual Report for the period 01/04/2020 to 31/03/2021

Aims and purposes

  1. To advance the Christian faith in accordance with the Basis of Faith in such ways and in such parts of the United Kingdom or the world as the trustees may from time to time think fit.

  2. To relieve sickness and financial hardship and to promote and preserve good health by the provision of funds, goods or services of any kind, including through the provision of counselling and support in such parts of the United Kingdom or world as the trustees from time to time may think fit.

  3. To advance education in such ways and in such parts of the United Kingdom or world as the trustees from time to time may think fit.

Objectives and activities

Public worship.

Instruction in the Christian faith during weekly worship meetings and through week-time Bible Study. Opportunity for private and public prayer and discussion, including sickness, financial hardship and other needs, locally and worldwide.

Provision of specific weekly activities: Arts and Craft group Parent and Toddler group Bible Study Group

Note: All activities were suspended in accordance with government guidelines during Covid-19 pandemic. Prayer and worship continued via phone and Zoom technology. Bible study continued via Zoom technology.

Trustees have read and acknowledged the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit, and to our knowledge there has been no deviation from guidance recommendations.

Achievements and performance

Social provision for the community:

Parent and Toddler meetings (suspended according to government guidelines during Covid-19 pandemic). Church socials (open to all and often including free meal) (suspended according to government guidelines during Covid-19 pandemic).

Fellowship during weekly worship services (suspended according to government guidelines during Covid-19 pandemic - contact and fellowship was maintained via phone/Zoom).

Improved mental. financial and physical well-being through prayer and counselling via phone (with financial support being offered where appropriate).

Provision of instruction and growth in the Christian faith through midweek Bible studies and Sunday services. (When permitted under Coronavirus regulations. Zoom sessions held where possible).

Provision of opportunity for community to meet for worship and fellowship every Sunday. (When permitted under Coronavirus regulations).

Regular donations of foodstuffs/supplies and finance to the local Food Bank to assist in alleviating need in the local community.

Provision of clothes/toys/reading materials alleviates child hardship worldwide (through Operation Christmas Child).

Provision of financial assistance to charities working overseas to spread the gospel and to alleviate poverty and hunger (through TearFund and other Christian charities).

The charity has continued to give financial assistance throughout the Covid-19 pandemic. Practical assistance was offered (shopping, prescription collection, etc) for those shielding. Contact with the church fellowship was maintained via letter, email, Zoom calls and weekly phone calls.

Financial review

Reserves policy

A reserve of £3,000 is held to ensure that we can meet payment of regular running costs of the charity (e.g. electricity/gas/water) for one year without income.

Financial review

Trustees note that the charity was able to cover all expenses during the Covid-19 pandemic. Donations to the charity via standing orders continued and the financial position remains similar to the end of the last financial year.

The charity relies solely on voluntary donations. The charity does not hold fundraising events and does not receive grants from any source.

Structure, governance and management

The charity is a CIO governed by a constitution. Trustees are nominated and elected every three years. If a trustee steps down/is deceased mid-term, remaining trustees may appoint a temporary trustee until such time as voting can take place.

Church leaders meet regularly with other local church leaders to support each other and to arrange joint public worship and community outreach. (Suspended during pandemic. Replaced with phone calls.)

I report to the trustees on my examination of the accounts of the above charity ("the Trust") for the year ended 31/03/2021.

Responsibilities and As the charity trustees of the Trust, you are responsible for the preparation of the basis of report accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 ("the Act").

I report in respect of my examination of the Trust's accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
