## **Achievements and Performance**

||SORP reference||
|---|---|---|
|Summary of the main
achievements of the charity,
identifying the difference the
charity’s work has made to
the circumstances of its
beneficiaries and any wider
benefits to society as a
whole.|Para 1.20|We have maintained our input to children
living in Government care in Romania
(Family Type Homes) and to those in the
adult institutions. Three trips have been
facilitated this year; one by learning
disability student nurses, one by a speech
and language therapist and one by two
Trustees. Outcomes from these trips
included a sensory path being built in the
adult institution, eating and drinking care
plans being implemented for children in the
Family Type Homes.
We have expanded our multidisciplinary
team to include a psychologist and a social
worker, as well as additional operational
support in Romania.
We continued to provide nutritional support
and therapeutic resources (physiotherapy
equipment) for particular children, with
medical supervision by their in-country
clinicians. During the Trustee trip additional
resources to improve quality of life, such as
a smart phone for an isolated teenager and
outside resources for one of the adult
institutions to support learning were
identified.
This year we have continued to develop our
project for families in the community,
enabling them to meet the needs of
children with additional needs within the
family, rather than needing to send them
into institutional care. We are opening a
community centre to support families to get
the therapeutic input and emotional support
they need, to try to prevent
institutionalisation.
We have also introduced a project looking
at developing the skills of adults living in
long stay institutions, called the Life Skills|

project, to build towards deinstitutionalisation and promote community engagement. We have funded community trips during the year to enable beneficiaries to develop their adaptive functioning skills and to promote community integration.
