The Trustees form an arranging committee responsible for the activities of the ecclesia. They are chosen from members familiar with the objectives and activities of the ecclesia.

The ecclesia is part of a worldwide community of Christadelphian ecclesiae.

Section C: Objectives and Activities

The objects of the Charity: To advance the Christian faith in accordance with the Christadelphian Statement of Faith for the benefit of the public, through the holding of meetings for worship, prayer and the preaching of the Gospel, providing religious teaching and publications, the promotion of charitable works and the provision of pastoral care.

Ways of carrying out these objects

The propagation of the faith held by Christadelphians through regular weekly Sunday services for communal worship, for prayer and for the preaching of the Gospel.
The provision of religious teaching and the nurturing of faith in all who will hear, including Bible School and the Christadelphian Youth Circle for young people and Bible seminars and other Bible classes for adults.
The publication of booklets, leaflets and other materials to help members of the congregation and of the public to understand the teaching of the Bible.
Charitable activities involving the pastoral care of the elderly, support for families and for individual members with particular physical or spiritual needs and contributions to a wide range of other charities and good causes.
Activities to promote the building up of the Christadelphian community by social and communal activities in the context of the propagation and maintenance of our faith through word and deed.

With the exception of meetings of the members of the charity known as Ecclesial Members Meetings, all our activities are open to all. No fees are charged. No-one receives private benefits from the charity other than as a legitimate beneficiary. There is no public detriment in any of our activities.

Section D: Achievements and performance

The ecclesia ended the year with a membership of 96 adult members.

The average attendance of members at services and other activities remained steady.

Summary of activities

Our regular meetings include two meetings each Sunday morning, the first for the proclamation of the Gospel (this is not happening because of covid restrictions) and the second for sharing of the bread and wine. A meeting is held each Wednesday evening for the study of the Bible. Other proclamation meetings are held from time to time.

There are regular activities for fellowship and recreation.

There is a network of practical support for elderly members, the sick and those with particular needs. There are regular activities for young people provide religious teaching, social and networking activities.

This year has again been challenging in view of lockdowns, but we have held more meetings in our room and are encouraging more members to attend, we are still providing virtual ways by using the internet.

Section E: Financial Review

The cash movements and balances are summarised in the receipts and payments accounts and Balance Sheet below.

The ecclesia does not have a reserves policy. All funds are held in instant access bank accounts. The balance in these funds at the end of the year was considered sufficient to meet the ongoing expenses of the ecclesia. Most contributions from members are made through the weekly bag collection, with taxpayers encouraged to use the Gift Aid provision. Funds donated specifically for external charities are forwarded to the relevant organisation within three months of the donation.

Independent examiner's report to the trustees of Solihull Christadelphian Ecclesia

I report on the accounts of the Trust for the Year ended 30 September 2021 which are set out on page 3 of the annual report

Respective responsibilities of trustees and examiner

The charity's trustees are responsible for the preparation of the accounts. The charity's trustees consider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144(2) of the Charities Act 2011 (the 2011 Act) and that an independent examination is needed. It is my responsibility to:

examine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011Act,
to follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the 2011 Act
to state whether particular matters have come to my attention

Basis of independent examiner’s report

My examination was carried out in accordance with general Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those records. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, and seeking explanations from the trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a 'true and fair' view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the next statement.

Independent examiner’s statement

In connection with my examination, no matter has come to my attention:

(1) which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in, any material respect, the requirements:

to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the 2011Act; and
to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the 2011Act have not been met; or

(2) to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
