Achievements and Performance in the Year
All daily operationalactNit￿s were backto normal followingthe affects of the Covid-19 virus.
However, thankstoourvolunteers. the FoodbankkeOopenthrou8houteveryweek ofthe previous
year. ensuring those in need were amiays able to recer¥e theirfood partels. The Orchard Pla
Chapel building was ckjsed to most Churth activit*s forthe first half of the previous year. but it
kindly rnade an exception forthe Foodbank operation to use all facilities as usual, at all tThe5.
Durin8the pandemicsome of ourregutarvolunteer5were deemedto be kn vulnerable age
groups and Could not attend to help. but a numberof younger people then volunteered to ensure

continuity. Afterthe youn8er volunteers left us when the virus receded we were fortunate to 8ain
volunteers. The eff orts of ourvolunteers coupled WTth the 8enerosity of many of the local
supermarkets meant that our Foodbank during the yearwas able to redeem 2,768food vouchers,
17% more than in 2021-22, and thls enabled 3.983 adult5 and 1,636 thlldren to be fed.
Donations of food inueased during the year but demand for food porols aLso increased
resulting in an overall decrease in stocks bythe end of the year. However. we were in the fortunate
position of being able to purchase food to meet demand from dients. I Please see "Financial
Re5ults".I
In consideration of Increased demand for food par￿lS and deueased donations of food it was
decided to stop buylng cheese and fresh chkken except at Christmas. These were addrtional items
given to each client. However, the list of food iiems allocated to dients, as speafied by The Trusell
Trust, is being supplied as normal.
Th¢ Foodbank's Safe8uardln8 OffKer •nd hef Deputy tske their roles seriously for cllents and
volunteers, training as required.
The Foodbank operates at Orthard Place Engllsh BaptLst Churth, Neath. using prem5ses klndly

Financial Results
There was a def iiit durin8the year of £￿ following a reduction in donations to £30.1601 c.f.

The dosin8 ￿seNe$ at year end stood at £42.￿. £iofAK) was deposlted with Celtic Credlt

H•wever, the large demand for food parce15 as shown by the s1gnrf1cant￿ increased cost of food
purchases necessrtated improvement of our bank balance. Accordingty, it was dedded to close our
account with the Celtbc Credrt Union and trdnsfef the balance of £20.CKLI to our current account. Our
policy is that we maintaln a Minimum of £6,(XiJ in our reserve whith would allow the Foodbank to

During the last year we have also increased our learning and training as we reccgnise the
need foI au our team to keep up to date in theÈr knowledge and the routines we u&e. We have been
present at additional on-line sessions and are maknn8 use of the Trussell Trusys training offerings.
We believe that despite the challenges and dlffi¢ulties of h*h demand during the year we
have Still delNered an excellent service to those who have had cause to visit the Foodbank and
during those visits we have tried to showthe most compassion we could, recognising the continuing
difficLAties our dients have to face.
