Oaklands School Charitable Trust ort ol the Trustees for the Year Ended 31 Au ust 2024 The trustees present their report wth the financial slalements of the charity for the year ended 31 August 2024. The trustees have adopted the provisions of Accounting and ReF)Orting by Charities.. Statement of Recommended Practice applicable to charities preparing their accounts in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard applicable in the UK and Republic of Ireland IFRS 1021 leffeclive 1 January 20191. OBJECTIVES AND ACTIVITIES Objectives and almg The charity was established lo provide individualised education, support and facilities for children with severe learning disabilities, MUlt￿pIe learning difficulties and those whose learning is affected by autism. ACHIEVEMENT AND PERFORMANCE Charitable activities The charity was registered in March 2016 and was initially running in tandem with the Oaklands School Fund, now defuncl.11 then look over all relevant activities including provision of such items as uniforms and charitable welfare payments on welfare and certain facilities. Since the year ended 31 August 2021, the School has sourced uniforms directly. In the 2023 financial year. the charity was not fully active as the charity's bankers froze and then closed the bank account despite there being a balance of over £150,000 in the account. In 2024 the Trustees have made efforts lo have the frozen funds released and are endeavouring lo open a new account. The charity will resume its operations once the bank account is active. FINANCIAL REVIEW Financial position The charity was not actively fundraising in the period and as noted above the Trustees have been unable to defray funds in hand for charitable purposes because of the bank's unwarranted Irealmenl of the charitable Trust. Unreslricled funds carried forward total £143,03812023 £143,038). The reslricled funds include funds eamiarked for a wheelchair accessible roundabouucarousel of £10,000 12023 £10,000). In respect of this restricted fund, this arose before the full establishment of the SEND college, Great Oaks College, run by Great Oaks Charitable Trust, which occupies part of the Gresham Road sile, where the roundabouvcarousel is to be situated. The Trustees are still considering the ongoing treatment of the earmarked reserve. No expenses have been claimed by the Iruslees for the period. Reserves policy The Iruslees are aware of the requirement for a reserves policy bul are equally conscious that the historic Funds balance reflects the non recurring grant from the now defunct School Fund. Given this the ongoing income stream is not expected lo be large and over lime funds will be depleted by charitable expenditure. The reserves balance will be regularly reviewed and assessed in the light of all relevant factors and the level of claims for charitable assistance have been established. STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT Governlng document The charity is an unincorporated charity being a Charitable Incorporated Organisalion registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales on 14 March 2016 and is governed by a CIO trust conslitulion. The financial slalements have been prepared under the historical cost convention. These financial statements have been prepared on the going concern basis. At the date of approval of these financial statements, the trustees do not anticipate any going concern implications from Brexit or Covid-19. Income All income is recognised in the Statement of Financial Activities once the charity has enlitlemenl lo the funds. {No Income was received during the financial yearl.
