Summary of the main actlvrties undertaken for the publlc benefit
Nottingham Irish Centre has been the hub of the citys Irish communty for many
years and as such we facilitate Irrsh cultural activities such as Irish music. Irish set
dancing, an Irtsh film club and dasses in Irish history. In addition, we have a
communty outreach programme which employs two support workers and a popular
Tuesday lunch club for older Irish people. as well as a Memory Café for those wrth
memory loss and their careers.
Public benefit statement
The Trustees confirm that they have ￿MPlied with the duty in section 17 of the
Chartties Act 2011 to have due regard to the Charity Commission's general guidan
on public benefiL 'Charsties and Public Benefiv.
Facilitating Irish cultural activities benefits the Irish cx)mmunty by helping people to
maintain social relationships and pride in their cultural heritage. It also allows us to
showcase Irish culture to a wider population. Our community outreach programme
provides practical support and advi￿ on welfare issues and seeks to help those who
are isolated to make and mairrtain social connections.

The Nottingham Irish Centre
Summary of the main achievements during the period
In this period we continued to facilitate cultural activities for the Irish community and
to run our Communty Outreach Pr(>3ramme. We also began to consider the long-
tenn viabilty of the Irish Centre. The premises were purchased over 50 years ago
and we own them without encumbrance. However. they are now too large for our
purposes and costly to maintain. There are two buildings: numbers 2 and 4 WiKord
St. At the AGM we proposed to sell number 4 and use the funds from the sale to
renovate number 2" the remaining funds would consolidate our financial position for
the future. The AGM supported the trustees. proposal and we put number 4 on the
market. We received an offer from a developer for £1.7m for the building and the car
park. subject to planning pemission. At the end of this period the developer was in
the process of apptying for planning pemiission.
The charity's policy on reserves
At this juncture we do not have reserves. The sale of part of the premises wrll allow
us in the fvture to remedy this.
