The Friends of Roundhay St. John's Church

Trustees' report (continued) for the year ended 31 March 2022

Objectives and activities

The charity's objects

The object of the Friends of Roundhay St John's Church is for the benefit of the public to maintain, repair, restore, preserve, improve and enhance the fabric of the church of Roundhay St Johns, its monuments, fixtures, fittings, furniture, stained glass, ornaments, and other chattels and its churchyard.

Public benefit statement

In setting our objectives and planning our activities our Trustees have given serious consideration to the Charity Commission’s general guidance on public benefit and in particular members of the public have mentioned and complimented us on the state of the churchyard.

Achievements and performance

The activities of the Friends of Roundhay St. John’s Church has been curtailed by the Covid Pandemic and we have had no General meetings of the overall group for about 15 months. A core of workers has worked on the north graveyard during the year to keep it in a presentable condition as of course this is outdoor work. We have arranged for and had completed relatively recently some remedial work on a few graves where gravestones were falling or damaged, although this will probably feature in terms of cost payments in next years accounts.

Financial review

The net receipts for the year was £1,771, including net payments of £1,380 on unrestricted funds and net receipts of £3,151 on restricted funds after transfers.

Reserves policy

The charity's free reserves, at the year end were £7,194.

Approved by the board of trustees on 08/01/2023
