2023 was a very busy year for BAI. The decision to focus more on community engagement through grant-funded projects resulted in numerous artistic initiatives that kept members, volunteers, and artists busy throughout the year. In total the grant income was £21,531. This total grant amount breakdowns to in March, BAI received a grant of £2000 from the Race Council Cymru for a Diversity and Inclusion exhibition that was held at various venues, including the Clio lounge in Bangor, the Blackboy in Caernarfon, the Castle Bank Hotel in Conway, and the Dragon pub in Holyhead. The exhibition aimed to engage with the local community in different venues opening conversations around diversity and inclusion. In July, BAI partnered with MaesBangor Festival and received a £5000 grant from the National Lottery via the Bangor Regeneration and Vision group to construct huge willow flowers and insects for the Bangor music festival. The Cist Gwynedd church fund also provided a grant of £3,544.40 for the children's entertainment and private security at the festival. BAI was responsible for the decorations of the music event, including the festival site, the main stage, and the reggae area, which were decorated with huge willow flowers and insects that lit up at night. The Windrush exhibition in August, which was funded by the Race Council Cymru with £2,000, took place on Bangor and Llandudno Pier. The works were by Jean Samuel Mfikela and Rhona Bowey, who told stories of the Windrush generations. In September, BAI received a grant of £2,000 from the Race Council Cymru for a Diversity and Inclusion exhibition that was held in the BAI gallery in Deiniol shopping centre. The exhibition showcased works by Jean Samuel Mfikela and Rhona Bowey, and the charity Showcased Graceion Deluxe Afro fashion and Baram Afro pop-up kitchen food. In October, BAI provided the photography and videography for the Wild Pony festival in Llanfairfechan, which received funds of £1,140. In November, the LLeu Project concluded by creating a new community group, the

Bangor Creative Community (BCC) volunteer group. The BCC group comprises diverse members from the AfroCaribbean society, the Asian community, and the broader community of Bangor. BAI received £1000 from the Lleu project for seed funding meetings and £1,500 for the delivery of the lantern parade. Additionally, £2,346.6 in artist fees was received from lleu grant funds for community project that was carried out in December 2022, with payment received in early 2023. Due to high winds, the lantern parade, scheduled for December, had to be rescheduled to January 6th. The Bangor City Council supported the event with a grant of £1000. The Lleu project gave Bangor Creative Community Group (BCC) the seed funding mentioned above, which was to be utilised by the BBC group for the lantern parade. Additionally, Gwynedd council awarded £400 via the Gyngor project for two artists to conduct workshops on lantern construction and repair in December. Even though the workshops were in December payment will show in January 2024 accounts.
