**Objects:** (A) TO DEVELOP THE CAPACITY AND SKILLS OF THE MEMBERS OF SOCIALLY AND ECONOMICALLY DISADVANTAGED COMMUNITIES IN THE NORTH OF ENGLAND, ESPECIALLY BLACK AND MINORITY ETHNIC COMMUNITIES, IN SUCH A WAY THAT THEY ARE BETTER ABLE TO IDENTIFY, AND HELP MEET, THEIR NEEDS AND TO PARTICIPATE MORE FULLY IN SOCIETY;(B) THE PROMOTION OF EQUALITY AND DIVERSITY FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT IN PARTICULAR BY:I) THE ELIMINATION OF DISCRIMINATION ON THE GROUNDS OF RACE OR RELIGION;II) ADVANCING EDUCATION AND RAISING AWARENESS IN EQUALITY AND DIVERSITY;III) CONDUCTING OR COMMISSIONING RESEARCH ON EQUALITY AND DIVERSITY ISSUES AND PUBLISHING THE RESULTS TO THE PUBLIC;IV) CULTIVATING A SENTIMENT IN FAVOUR OF EQUALITY AND DIVERSITY.
