**2023** 

The Bourne Foundation supports students of The Bourne Academy with enrichment activities to enhance their education and provide access to opportunities that might not otherwise be possible. 

The year to 31 August 2023 has been a quieter year for the Foundation, but the level of grants made to support The Bourne Academy have been increased. 

Income, totalling £7,971 (2022 - £24,462) has been raised through grants and donations, with the following grants obtained: 

- £1,750 from Bauer Radio to support projects for Young Carers at The Bourne Academy 

- £1,515 from Dorset Council to improve facilities on The Bourne Academy’s outdoor education site. 

- £2,500 one-o� donation plus gift aid to support Greenpower activities at The Bourne Foundation 

- £984 from Canford School for general purposes 

The remainder of income was raised through small donations and various events held at The Bourne Academy during the year. 

Grants totalling £42,470 (2022 - £30,250) have been made to The Bourne Academy during the year as follows: 

- £27,000 to purchase 360 musical instruments to commence the Academy’s Andrew Lloyd Webber Music in Secondary School Trust programme that started in September 2023. 

- £10,000 to support the employment of a Safeguarding Frontliner to continue to assist with the increased safeguarding workload seen at The Academy. 

- £2,500 to support the Academy’s Greenpower programme 

- £1,750 to support projects with Young Carer’s at the Bourne Academy 

- £1,220 to provide fencing around the lake at the Academy’s outdoor education site. 

At 31 August 2023 the Foundation had reserves of £12,369 (2022 - £46,868). All of the reserves held at the year end were unrestricted general reserves.
