The charity hosted a lot more activities compared to last year since the temple relocated to the new location in Plaistow. Temple has welcomed more and more visitors on a daily basis and more member of public attending the events hosted by the temple. Volunteers continue to host online Buddhist teaching classes for children on a regular basis for them to develop the right view by
-
1) understanding the Four Noble Truths and developing wisdom,

2) thinking kindly about others,
-
3) speaking kindly to others without lies and angry words
Summary of the main activities undertaken for the public benefit in relation to these objects (include within this section the statutory declaration that trustees have had regard to the guidance issued by the Charity Commission on public benefit)
- 4) leading a moral life and being aware of one’s thoughts and behaviours.
At least seven vegetarian events open for members and local community sessions were hosted, giving opportunity for participants to exchange ideas and information about the practice of Buddhism. Many useful information about how the vegetarian diet can bring significant positive impact to one’s health and the environment.
A lot more members started to volunteer themselves in the activities by contributing their time in order to promote the temple’s events to a wider community and increase the connection between the foundation and local community in order to promote the knowledge and values of Buddhism.

Weekly Sessions to recite Buddhist sutras to help members to develop empathy, increase self-awareness and experience spiritual growth.

Monthly visit to the Chinese Community Centre in different areas to introduce the temple activities.

Section D Achievements and performance
Summary of the main Temple hosted seven main vegetarian and Dharma talks events that achievements of the charity hosted around 60 people on the following dates, during the year 04/05/2023 - Vesak Day Celebration 05/08/2023 - Guan Yin Bodhisattva Enlightenment Day (outdoor event) 26/09/2023 - Mid Autumn Festival 19/11/2023 - Temple 8[th] Anniversary 18/01/2024 – Laba Festival 10/02/2024 – Chinese New Year Festival 24/03/2024 - The Nirvana Day of Sakyamuni Buddha Members of the foundation also made monthly visit to the Chinese Community Centre in different areas to introduce the temple activities and distributing leaflets about temple’s activities, Buddhism books and vegetarian dishes recipe cards to community members. All vegetarian and Dharma talk events received positive feedbacks from the participants and they see positive changes in their physical and mental health by eating more vegetarian dishes and sutras reciting.

Brief statement of the charity’s policy on reserves
The foundation maintains a healthy financial position. The foundation receives regular donations from volunteers and members, no loan or debt taken in the year and have no intention to do so in the next 12 months. None of the Trustees were reimbursed out of pocket expenses.

Sources of Fund: No government Grant, mainly relied on Donations from members and public, we would only have expected people to donate after they have benefited from our help and Buddhism teaching promoted, hence no street raising fund events have ever been held.

Main Expenditures: Our major expenditure are the temple’s rental and utilities bill such as telephone and broadband, gas and electric. Yearly insurance and other miscellaneous will remain the usage. All these decisions and expenses will be strictly reviewed and scrutinized by the trustees. Ingredients for vegetarian dishes are mainly donated by the foundation’s members.

Independent examiner's report to the Trustees of UK Guan Yin Citta Dharma Door Buddhist Charity Foundation
I report to the charity trustees on my examination of the attached accounts of UK Guan Yin Citta Dharma Door Buddhist Charity Foundation for the year ended 31 March 2024.
This report is made solely to the trustees, as a body, in accordance with regulations made under section 154 of the Charities Act 2011. My work has been undertaken so that I might state to the trustees matters I am required to state to them in an Independent Examiner’s report and for no other purpose. To the fullest extent permitted by law, I do not accept or assume responsibility to anyone other than the trustees for my independent examination work, for this report, or for the statement I have given below.
Responsibilities and basis of report
As the charity’s trustees you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts in accordance with the requirements of the Charities Act 2011 (‘the Act’).
I report in respect of my examination of the charity’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the Act and in carrying out my examination I have followed all the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act.
Independent examiner's statement
I have completed my examination. I confirm that no matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination giving me cause to believe that in any material respect:

•1. accounting records were not kept in respect of the charity as required by section 130 of the Act; or
-
the accounts do not accord with those records; or
3. the accounts do not comply with the applicable requirements concerning the form and content of accounts set out in the Charities (Accounts and Reports) Regulations 2008 other than any requirement that the accounts give a ‘true and fair' view which is not a matter considered as part of an independent examination.
I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in this report in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
