The Trustees present their report together with the financial statements for the period 1[st] April 2024 to 31[st] March 2025.
A. Reference and Administration
Surrey Special Needs Ski and Outdoor Learning Charity (working name: SPENSOL) is a registered Charitable Incorporated Organization number 1165674 , formed under a constitution and entered on to the Charities Register 22[nd] February 2016 with a principal address at 19 Bell Meadow, Godstone, RH9 8ED.

B. Structure governance and management

(1) The charity is governed by constitution.

(2) The charity is constituted as a Charitable Incorporated Organization.

(3) Apart from the first charity trustees, every trustee must be appointed by a resolution passed at a properly convened meeting of the charity trustees.

(4) In selecting individuals for appointment as charity trustees, the charity trustees must have regard to the skills, knowledge and experience needed for the effective administration of the CIO.
C. Objectives and activities
The objects of the Charity are the relief of young people between the ages of 5-20 with disabilities and/or special needs by the provision of facilities and information for recreation or other leisure time occupation, in particular through the provision of skiing activities, in the interests of social welfare and with the object of improving the condition of life of such persons.
SPENSOL’s main activity is the annual Ski Trip to Prato Nevoso in Italy and whilst charitable status was only achieved in 2016, the first Surrey Special Needs ski journey took place in 1998.

D. Achievements and performance
Whilst the trip has not fully recovered to pre-pandemic numbers, it’s popularity continues and on our 26[th] trip, we took 68 Students from 9 Surrey and 1 Sussex based special schools. The students were accompanied by 41 Staff, 32 from the schools and 9 independent and experienced volunteers, through SPENSOL, including 2 Nurses. A total of 5 Trustees were on the trip.
The annual trips are funded by a combination of parental contributions, school fundraising and SPENSOL grants. SPENSOL raises funds from direct grants, donations, and fund-raising events. SPENSOL does not have any employees and does not expect to require any, it is run through the voluntary help of the trustees and sub-committee members. SPENSOL is very grateful to all those who give their time for the benefit of young people with additional needs.
E. Financial Review
In accordance with Charity Commission requirements, the trustees and executive committee members are responsible for keeping proper accounting records which disclose, with reasonable accuracy at any time, the financial position of the organization. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the association and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.
The trustees and executive committee have prepared the statements for the current period on a Receipts and Payments basis. Any reserves are used for the ongoing activities of the organization in furtherance of its charitable objectives.
Results for the year
In the period to 31st March 2025 the charity had receipts from schools, fundraising and donations of £90,578 and made payments of £104,883 which included fares, administration and operating expenses. The total cost of the 2025 trip was £100,880 after discount. SPENSOL provided additional staff places, student grants and volunteer fares totaling £14,918. The financial statements accompany the Trustees Report.

For the 2025 Trip the Charity expended £ 14,918 In grants, Subsidies and staff places. The Charity had no

Respertlve responslbllltles of trustees and examlner The charity's trustees are responsible for the prepardtion of the accounts. The charity's trustees onsider that an audit is not required for this year under section 144121 of the Charities Act 2011 Ithe 2011 Act) but that an independent examination is needed. It 15 my responsibility to.. examine the accounts under section 145 of the 2011 Act. to follow the procedures laid down in the Eeneral Dirertions given by the Charity Commission lunder section 14515llbl of the 2011 Act, and to state whether partitular matters have come to my attention. Basis of Independent examiner's report My examination wa5 carried out in accordance with general Directions given by the Charity Commission. An examination includes a review of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparison of the accounts presented with those COrdS. It also includes consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts and seeking explanations from you as trustees concerning any such matters. The procedures undertaken do not provide all the evidence that would be required in an audit, and consequently no opinion is given as to whether the accounts present a 'true and fair, view and the report is limited to those matters set out in the statement below. Independent examlner's statement In connectlon with my examination, no matter has come to my attention: which gives me reasonable cause to believe that in any material respect the requirements: to keep accounting records in accordance with section 130 of the 2011 Act,. and to prepare accounts which accord with the accounting records and comply with the accounting requirements of the 2011 Act have not been met; or 2. to which, in my opinion, attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached.
