Surrey Special Needs Ski and Outdoor Learning Charity (working name : SPENSOL) is a registered Charitable Incorporated Organization number **1165674** , formed under a constitution and entered on to the Charities Register 22[nd] February 2016 with a principal address at 19 Bell Meadow, Godstone, RH9 8ED.

## **B. Structure governance and management** 

- (1) The charity is governed by constitution. 

- (2) The charity is constituted as a Charitable Incorporated Organization. 

- (3) Apart from the first charity trustees, every trustee must be appointed by a resolution passed at a properly convened meeting of the charity trustees. 

- (4) In selecting individuals for appointment as charity trustees, the charity trustees must have regard to the skills, knowledge and experience needed for the effective administration of the CIO. 

## **C. Objectives and activities** 

The objects of the Charity are the relief of young people between the ages of 5-20 with disabilities and/or special needs by the provision of facilities and information for recreation or other leisure time occupation, in particular through the provision of skiing activities, in the interests of social welfare and with the object of improving the condition of life of such persons. 

SPENSOL’s main activity is the annual Ski Trip to Prato Nevoso in Italy and whilst charitable status was only achieved in 2016, the first Surrey Special Needs ski journey took place in 1998.

Havin8 been unable to travel in 2021 and 2022 due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the charfty was
very pleased to be able, once agaln, to offer the Annual Ski-trip to Prato Nevoso in 2023.
Although smaller In size than re￿nt trips, this was the 24 trip and took place in January 2023.
The trip took 52 Students from 7 Surrey, I Sussex and l Hampshire based special schools. The
studentswere accompanied by 36 Staff, 25 from the schools and 11 through 5PENSOL who
were independent, experienced, volunteer5 including 3 Nurses and 5 trustees.
The annual trfps are fvnded by a combination of parentsl contrlbutlon5, school fundralsln8 and
SPENSOL grants. SPENSOL raises funds from direct grants, donations, and fund-ralslng events.
SPENSOL does not have any employees and does not expect to requlre any. It15 run through the
voluntary help of the trustee5 and sub-committee members. SPENSOL 15 very grateful to all
those who glve thelr time for the benefit of young people with disabilities.

In accordance wlth Chadty Commlsslon requlrements, the trustees and executive commlttee
members are responsible for keeplr8 proper accounting record5 whlch dlsck>se, wlth ￿3$onable
accuracy at any time, the financial wsltlon of the organization. They are also responslble for
safe8uardlftg the assets of the associatlon and hence for taklng reasonable steps for the
prevention and detectlon of fraud and other Irre8ularltSes.

In the perfod to 31st March 2023 the charlty had recelpts from schools, fuThJralslng and donatlons
of £54,481 and made payments of £59.429 whlch Included fa￿. admlnlstratlon and operatln8
expense5. we also realized a travel deposlt first pald in 2021. The total cost of the 2023 trip was
£67,260 after dlscount. SPENSOL provided additional staff places, student 8rants and volunteer
fares totalin8 £16,231. The financial statements accompany the Trustees Report,
