The Trustees present their report together with the financial statements for the period 1[st] April 2020 to 31[st] March 2021.
## **A. Reference and Administration**
Surrey Special Needs Ski and Outdoor Learning Charity (working name : SPENSOL) is a registered Charitable Incorporated Organization number **1165674** , formed under a constitution and entered on to the Charities Register 22[nd] February 2016 with a principal address at 19 Bell Meadow, Godstone, RH9 8ED.

## **B. Structure governance and management**
- (1) The charity is governed by constitution.
- (2) The charity is constituted as a Charitable Incorporated Organization.
- (3) Apart from the first charity trustees, every trustee must be appointed by a resolution passed at a properly convened meeting of the charity trustees.
- (4) In selecting individuals for appointment as charity trustees, the charity trustees must have regard to the skills, knowledge and experience needed for the effective administration of the CIO.
## **C. Objectives and activities**
The objects of the Charity are the relief of young people between the ages of 5-20 with disabilities and/or special needs by the provision of facilities and information for recreation or other leisure time occupation, in particular through the provision of skiing activities, in the interests of social welfare and with the object of improving the condition of life of such persons.
SPENSOL’s main activity is the annual Ski Trip to Prato Nevoso in Italy and whilst charitable status was only achieved in 2016, the first Surrey Special Needs ski journey took place in 1998.

## **D. Achievements and performance**
The Global COVID-19 Pandemic meant that the 24[th] Annual Ski-trip to Prato Nevoso could not go ahead. Despite the understandable reasons, this was a cause of huge disappointment to the trustees and to the schools that usually participate.
In normal times, the trips are funded by a combination of parental contribution, school fundraising and SPENSOL grants. SPENSOL raises funds from direct grants, donations and fundraising events. SPENSOL does not have any employees and does not expect to require any, it is run through the voluntary help of the trustees and sub-committee members. SPENSOL is very grateful to all those who give their time for the benefit of young people with disabilities.
## **E. Financial Review**
In accordance with Charity Commission requirements, the trustees and executive committee members are responsible for keeping proper accounting records which disclose, with reasonable accuracy at any time, the financial position of the organization. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the association and hence for taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.
The trustees and executive committee have prepared the statements for the current period on a Receipts and Payments basis. Any reserves are used for the ongoing activities of the organization in furtherance of its charitable objectives.
## **Results for the year**
In the period to 31[st] March 2021 the charity had receipts from donations of £486 and made payments of £13,350 which included a refundable deposit of £12,000 on fares for 2022 should it be able to go ahead, as well as administration and operating expenses. The financial statements accompany the Trustees Report.
The trustees declare that they have approved the annual report contained herein.
