Chairmans Report

Welcome to all our members.

It is now eight and half years since the Shed first opened. In that time we have grown membership wise and are constantly welcoming new members. We have also lost some as well, people joining for a while and then stopping coming. So welcome to all new members.

My thanks go to all the volunteers who have kept the Shed functioning. Special thanks go to all trustees, as well as Mike Burton and Mick Readman for their efforts in opening and closing and generally doing sterling work. Also to Jim and Dennis, for keeping the outside tidy as well as building our new work space. Must not forget Peter (when he turns up) for being our Mr Fixit.

Thanks to the Ladies group for all their fund raising and keeping me in check.

I now wish to address what I consider to be a general air of malaise.

The Shed has generally worked well since its opening in April 2016, however I think standards have slipped and I am getting very disappointed with the way it is going.

An Orbital Sander (this one) was broken by someone and was put back on the shelf. It wasn’t discovered that it was broken until someone else came to use it. Accidents happen and things get broken, no one will get shouted out! But we can’t replace items until we know that they need replacing!

We bought a couple of glue dispensers (like these). Someone obviously thought they were a good idea and walked off with one. The other one obviously got clogged up, but instead of it being cleaned it was just easier to cut the top off!!

Also I am not the Shed cleaner, when I come to lock up, at times I have to wash cups and plates!

These things I have just mentioned just show a lack of respect, if things continue as they are we will put things under lock and key. We have a borrow book, if someone needs a spot of glue please ask, don’t pilfer!!

I would also like to mention, this especially applies to the Gents, that when they arrive in their cars to please park sensibly, doesn’t take much and we can get more cars in the carpark. Enough of my moaning!!

TREASURER’S REPORT

A YEAR OF CONSOLIDATION

A steady year with no major financial worries.

The effects of the fuel price rises and inflation in general has had an affect on our expenditure which is a continuing concern

We just need to keep monitoring costs while ensuring all necessary equipment is available for members.

We will probably need to look at getting some more grant money over the next years to sustain ourselves

Again a thank you to the members of the ladies group for their fundraising efforts
