The PCC is a body corporate and a re8lstered charity. Rlsk Management Assessment In common with allother organisations. the PCC is potentially at rlsk from a number of sources. The PCC are responslble for ensuring that these rlsks are reviewed so a5 not to expose the PCC to undue rlsk and that the PCC Is In a posltlon to correctly deal wtth any situation that may arise. Rlsks have been assessed and, where possible, mitlgated. Examples of areas that are kept under review Include: Flnandal Strate8y. Ensuring that we have sufficient reserves to meet expenditure and that income levels are maintained. Regular management accounts are supplied to budget holders and the PCC. Data and Copyrfght Protectlon. Ensurln8 that we compty wlth all current regulations. There is a Data Protection policy in place to comply with GDPR. Employment Regulations. Ensurlng that all current le8lslatlon and regulations are complied wtth and Trest practice, in employment matters is observed. Insurance. Insurance levels are revlewed annually. Property. The Church building Is professionally surveyed every 5 years and a maintenante plan developed. Safeguarding. A policy is in force for the protertion of children and vulnerable adults In the care of the PCC and its volunteers. A Parlsh Safeguardlng Officer is appointed by the PCC and Is responslble for ensurln8 the poficy is enforced. Intemal Flnandal Control& Expendlture and Income are reported against budget and last year. Bank statements are reconclled monthty and two $18natures are required for all payments, the majorlty of which are online payments. Cash is banked regularlv. Health and Safety The Health and Safety Coordinator (currently the Standing Committee) is responsible for ensuring that all the Heatth and Safety pollcles are kept up to date and adhered to. and that regular safety checks are undertaken. Public benefft The PCC has considered the guldance of the Charity Commission with regard to public benefft. In planning actlvlties, the PCC consider Charrty Commission and Diocesan 8uidance and how it relates to our objectives. Appolntfnent of Trustees Any person on the Electoral Roll ofthe parish may stand for election to the PCC. There are up to 9 'ordinarf elected members of the PCC who serve for a period of three years. Ex-officio members of the PCC are cler8y licensed to the parish. churchwardens, lay readers and members of deanery, diocesan or general synods. Churchwardens are elected annually at the Annual Meeting for the Election of Churchwardens. Electors are members of the church Elertoral Roll and those on the civil electoral roll for the parish of Breaston. Page 4

In both cases, all candidates must be proposed and seconded in wrltln8 by persons entitled to attend the respettive meetings. There is no recruitment method for trustees. as all Roll members are eli8ible. The income of St Michael's PCC in 2024 was £173,226 {£171,S93 previous yeorj and expenditure totaled £ 190,894 (£167,659J of which the Common Fund was £58,780 (£65,705). The net deficit for the year was £(17.668} (2023 Surplus £3.934). This was arrived at after the net Increase in the value of investments of £8,44312023 Increose £18.573) Cash reserves and investments were £186,566 f£204,546) which is well within our reserve pollcy. Investment pollcy and objectlves It is the policy of the PCC to invest surplus funds wlth CCLA Investment Management Ltd. Reserves poll It Is PCC pollcy to maintaln suffKient reserves of cash to enable payment of three month5, unrestricted expendlture and a sultable sum to cover emergency situatlons. Evensong at 6:30 pm (alternating with the sister parish vllthin the benefice). There is also a communion service on Wednesday at 10."30 am. Worship and teaching for thildren are available at the 10:30 am Service. Due to the vacancrf. not all of these services now run every wee Communlty and young peopl Youth groups Explorers Youth Café Sunbeams for parents and toddlers 'Renew' Wellbein8 Café 'Living Hope, The servlces are open to everyone regardle55 of personal background, gender or personal clrcumstances. Achievements and performance Many costs continue to have been afferted by inflatlonary pressures. Whilst energy costs have stabilised, they are stlll considerably above 2022 levels. Givln8 has remained largely static which reflerts some of our members who are on pension5 and others tho are hit by inllation & hi8her interest rates. The deftcit was £17,668 which was arrived at after over £20.OIXI of improvements and updates in the church hall and Old Llbrary, the latter bein8 let to new tenants In 2024. In spite of turbulent international markets, the CCLA Investment fund increased by £8,443 In the yÈar to 311¢ December 2024. The PCC has taken advanta8e of the Parlsh Gfvin8 Scheme, which has simplified admlnistratlon with Glft Ald claim5 processed monthly, improvlng cash flow. A 'Rene Wellbeing Café for the community continues to provide social and other actlvities for supportin8 wide ran8e of people. We are 8rateful for Warni Space. fundln8 from Dert)ySh1 CC to 5UPPOrt this work. 'Living Hope, provides sUPPOrt for people with famlty or friends strugglin8 with addictions Our Youth and Children's workers continue to run Youth Groups, 'Explorers' and Youth Café weekly activitles, all of whlch have shown encouraging 8rowth in the last year.
