|Summary of the main<br>achievements of the charity,<br>identifying the difference the<br>charity’s work has made to<br>the circumstances of its<br>beneficiaries and any wider<br>benefits to society as a<br>whole.|Para 1.20|Our work has unfortunately been affected<br>by the pandemic, but we have continued<br>the fundraising in order to get the<br>programme established fully in 2023 again.<br>We have supported fellows with grants in<br>the past and the travel fellowships which<br>had been awarded will now be utilised in<br>line with the aims and objectives of the<br>charity and continue to be awarded for<br>2023 and 2024.<br>After our BICRAA app (www.bicraa.org)<br>had been successfully tested in India<br>(n=1049), showing that around 30% chew<br>betel nut (we would like to thank Prof.<br>Kelkar and Dr. Pethe from the Deenanath<br>Mangeshkar Hospital, Pune, for their<br>invaluable support), the app has continued<br>to help raise the awareness of the risks of<br>betel nut chewing.<br>We have continued working on a global<br>study to extend these efforts in India and<br>other countries.<br>With regard to our work in Indonesia, we<br>have continued to closely work with our<br>partners at the Dr. Sardjito Hospital/Gadjah<br>Mada University in Yogyakarta, Indonesia,<br>and one of the trustees, Mr. Matt Lechner,<br>travelled there in September 2022 to<br>support the local Nasopharyngeal Cancer<br>(NPC) awareness and early detection<br>programme and to support research and<br>publications of results. The Storz company<br>has continued to support our programme<br>and in 2023 and 2024 we will be able to<br>award four fellowship grants to young<br>surgeons, sponsored by a donation by<br>Storz, allowing them travel to low and<br>middle income countries and to help with<br>the local charitable work.|
