## **Objectives and Activities**

## **Summary of purpose**

Vetwork UK’s purpose is to engage in and promote activities and research that aim to bring balanced and sustainable benefit to human and non-human animals, eco-systems, and the whole of the natural environment, in UK and worldwide.

Vetwork UK currently carries out its charitable purpose primarily through educational activities, publication via its website, and occasional grant-making.

## **Summary of main activities**

In the year from April 2024 to March 2025, Vetwork UK:

- Worked with Veterinary Prescriber, Pesticide Action Network and others to broaden understanding of the environmental risks of veterinary pharmaceuticals (eg NSAIDS in Vultures, pet parasiticides to local invertebrate), and broader threats to biodiversity and climate

- Worked to promote these messages with other local and national environmental organisations in Devon, Lancaster, London and Norfolk

- Worked to improve understanding of the energy costs underpinning these challenges

- Maintained its website to support these activities

- Continued to follow and support the activities of the RSPB vulture conservation project in SE Asia.

## **Public Benefit Statement**

Vetwork UK provides a public benefit by:

- Raising awareness of the need to monitor biodiversity, improving animal welfare, and conserve healthy ecosystems.

* Promoting a balanced approach to the care of animals in families, communities, and ecological systems, particularly where animals are a valuable livelihood resource.

- Promoting the benefits that animals can provide to their owners and the wider public such as the bond created between animals and people through daily care, shared work, and companionship.

* Achieving these through local and international engagement with a focus on marginalized and disadvantaged communities, and with those affected by emergencies such as animal disease outbreaks, climate change and other threats to biodiversity.
