OBJECTS AND ACTIVITIES
The PCC is committed to enabSing as many peO￿e as possible to worship ai Qui chutches and to serving the parish community of Pendleton
and Claremont. Ourservice5 aim tts putfaith into prdcticethroughword and Sacrament music and prayer. Our church ha115 areavailablefor hire
by the widercommunity and it 15 thevision of the PCC that ourchuTches should be vibrantcommvnity spaces.
When planning ouractivitte5 forthe year.we haveconsidered thecharitycommission'sguidance on public benefit and. irt part*cular, the
supplementary guidance on charitie5 forthe advancementof religion. In particular.we tryto enable ordinary people to liveout theirfalth as
part of oui par15h community through:

provision of pastoral care for pwple living in the pafi5h

To facilitate this work, it is importanl that we malntain the fabric of thechurches and theirfacililies.
ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE
Worship and prayer
The effects of the Covid pandemic3￿ at last behind u5 and.since Easter2021.ourchurches have resumed their precovid pattern of worship.
The euchaTlSt is celebrated at5tThomas'Church on a Sunday morning and at Hoty Angels'church weeklyonTuesdays.
In February 2023 theTeam Rector took upthe ky)st of incumbent al Oldham Parish ChuIc￿ leaving the parish in vacdncy. As the assistant curate
also left in December 2022. the servi£es are bein9 covered by retired and visitin9 dergy.
Deanery of Salford & Leigh
Following the DiocesanTransfowmation Agenda, the parish sits within the recenilyfomied largerdeaneryof Salford and Leigh. supported by
the Area Dean, the Rev'd Colin Pearson. In addition, the Diocesecreated Mission Communities across each Deanery and in 2021 the Salford
All 5aintsTeam was nominaied to Mission Community4 along wth other parishe5 in the 5alford area to create a community of 13 churche5.
Evangelistic and outreach work is teing undertaken within the mission (ommunity.

Holy Angels'cornmunity Hall
The Communliy Hall recovered 50tne ol its users In 2021 after the effect of the pandemlc, and Its Income has contlnued to rlse In 2022.
Pastoral care
In 2022 as Ille was becoming less dlctated by Covld restriction5, the members ol the PCC and DCC continued to take respon5ibllity for pastoral
care wlth regular phone calls and vi5115. What had been once been routine vlslts to Care Homes were stlll Ilrrlted during theyear and on several
OCCa5ions vlslts had to be cancelled because of outbreaks ol inleclion. Fortunately, the Christma5 Carol concerts were allowed and very much
enjoyed In the two care homes vlsiied. Hospltal vlsltlng the early months of 2022 wa5 slmllarly stlll curtaSled but gradually Improved durlng
the year.
Mlssion and evangelism
The PCC15 commltted to the S Marks of MSsslon adopted by the Lambeth Conference In 1988 and the General Synod of the Church ol England

We seek to ernbed these prlnciples In our Misslon Action Plan IMAP). In August 2027, we began a Future Strategy Process in preparation for
formal Unlon ol Parishes (so that the Sallord All SalntsTeam Mlni5try will become the Parish ol Sdlford All Salnlsl.Thls plannlng and preparation
was further developed In 2022. We are now awaiting a response from the dlocese.
Ecumenical relationships
At Holy Angels. the Practical detalls of Life International Church uslng the church on Sunday mornlng5 are runnlng 5rn00thly. As yet, Interactlon
between the two churche5 15 limited.The lack of wS11Sng partners makes ecumenlcal relationshipsdifficultfor StThomas'.
Churches on the Height, a group consSsting of Holy Angels, St. Johns Pendlebury. St. Lukes RC,The Helght Methodist Church and Ellm, has
resumed its jolnt activitie5.

Successful bid for £IO,O(Xl grant from Historic England as partof theirworkitw Class Hisiories Schetne.The tOP50ilwas removed from two
areas ofthegraveyard and inscriptions recorded. Led bYG￿ater Manche5terArchaeologyService. theyard was surveyed to enable later grave
site identification by GPS mapping and grave constwuction examined which correlated to archival document& Research into thefarnilie5. their
occupations and add￿sSeS is ongoing.
Over250 school children from six 5choo15 took part ina local hÈstory lessoTh followed by archaeologist session% removing soil and cleaning
and recording iriscriptions.
The two-week dig waswell covered bythe local media.officially or*)ed by Paul DennetL Mayorof Salford, and saw Rebecca Long Bailey, M.P.
whojosned in with the digging and championed the proie(t.
The interim results were presented at Salford University's Ar(haeolo9y Dayon 26th NoveM1￿r.
To help those who had expressed an interest in the ￿searCh partof the wort but were lacking in the knowledge and skills required.Thursday
evening Research Sessions ran during Novemberand DeCeM￿r.These We￿ well attended and hopefulty kindled interest in participants own
family history.The5e sessions ended with a presentation by the forme¥Greater Manchester County Archaeolo9y Service on his work at the site of
the Cross Street Chapel graveyard.
The basic research is complete. and work continueson the written reportsdocuments and p￿SentatIon matetial*The spaces between the
ledger stones are to be filled with a grit typefill. laid on a metDbTrne. under guidance from RHS Bridgewater.The site by the south gate is to be
