In particular the advancement of education, the promotion of health, the relief of poverty, the promotion of public safety and the prevention of crime. ## **SUMMARY OF THE MAIN ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN FOR THE PUBLIC BENEFIT IN RELATION TO THESE OBJECTS** In planning our activities for the year we kept in mind the Charity Commission’s guidance on public benefit at our trustees meetings. ## **ACHIEVEMENTS AND PERFORMANCE** The Farmers Larder (The Pantry) is still working hard to provide affordable food for the immediate, and wider community from our room in the Farmers View (Hurst Farm Social Club CIC). This is a non-profit project which we hope to build on further. Volunteering opportunities have been provided for many residents, members of the community along with visitors from the Golden Grange centre for people with additional needs. This has resulted in some residents obtaining work. We have worked hard to provide youth and family support at this difficult time such as Craft session, fun days etc. We have started supporting the community cafe which provides a warm and welcoming space where people could visit to reduce isolation & build support between people on the estate. The Friends of Hurst Farm has continued to work in partnership with “Heritage Trail” to ensure that projects are ready to be delivered between 2023 & 2026. We continue to provide free Parent & Toddler sessions to families on the estate which are led by an experienced childcare worker. The charity has continued to support older people's activities including Golden Club. This again helps to eliminate the feeling of isolation. We will also be organising a Christmas meal for older members of the community. **- 2 -** **FRIENDS OF HURST FARM** ## **TRUSTEES’ ANNUAL REPORT** ## **YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2025** ## **FINANCIAL REVIEW** ## **Reserves Policy** The charity’s reserves policy aims to hold 3 months running costs in reserve ## **Independent Examiner** Derby CAS are continuing in office as independent examiner ## **STRUCTURE, GOVERNANCE AND MANAGEMENT** ## **Governing Document** Friends of Hurst Farm is a CIO who registered with the Charity Commission on 28[th] January 2016 and whose principle address is Derbyshire Dales CVS, Agricultural Business Centre, Agricultural Way, Bakewell. ## **Trustee selection methods** A skills audit has been undertaken to discover those skills which are required by the trustee body. Efforts are made to recruit trustees who meet the skill requirement **.** ## **Risk management policy** The trustees examine the major risks that the charity faces each financial year when preparing and updating the strategic plan. I report in respect of my examination of the Trust’s accounts carried out under section 145 of the 2011 Act and in carrying out my examination, I have followed the applicable Directions given by the Charity Commission under section 145(5)(b) of the Act. ## **Independent examiner’s statement** I have completed my examination. I confirm that no material matters have come to my attention in connection with the examination which gives me cause to believe that in, any material respect: - accounting records were not kept in accordance with section 130 of the Act or - the accounts do not accord with the accounting records I have no concerns and have come across no other matters in connection with the examination to which attention should be drawn in order to enable a proper understanding of the accounts to be reached. 16877| ## **STAY & PLAY** Friends of Hurst Farm were allocated a £10K grant from Derbyshire County Council Action Grant programme towards the Hurst Farm Stay and Play project. The project aims to create a safe inclusive play space allowing children and adults to communicate through play in a relaxed non-judgemental environment, allowing a unique stream of communication between babies/infants and their peers, babies/infants and their siblings, children and their parents, parents and parents, residents & residents with the additional support of a local trusted community member practitioner to encourage and guide on the subject of play and parenting whilst also acting as an advocate for reporting crime, supporting residents to understand the importance of this and to help parents recognise where appropriate, what constitutes anti-social behaviour and how and where to report instances of crime/anti-social behaviour. **-8-** **FRIENDS OF HURST FARM** ## **NOTES TO THE ACCOUNTS** The grant is being used to pay for a practitioner, provide training, purchase equipment and pay for room hire to deliver 2 sessions per week running at the Hurst Farm Community Centre and Castle View School. ## **The reserve is allocated to pay for training, purchase further equipment, includes the remaining allowance for room hire and payment for community play practitioner. NOTTINGHAMSHIRE & DERBYSHIRE PCC** This money was allocated for a residential for young people however we have used this money to provide outdoor learning This money was allocated to pay for a democracy residential experience to London for 10 young people & staff/volunteers. Youth work training and development opportunities for volunteers, room hire, publicity and volunteer costs. However, we agreed to alter this slightly to provide a more customised experience for our young people. We have provided a number of activity sessions with peer working and hand on experiences such as canoeing, rock climbing, caving and much more. ## **THE VULNERABILITY FUND** The fund has also been spent on 20 PIR security sensor alarms and "This shed is alarmed" stickers. Soon, the charity will be looking at getting them installed on sheds around the estate. ## **HURST FARM GETS MOVING GRANT** Currently, the charity is trying to arrange for the end date of the Hurst Farm Gets Moving grant, to be extended with the hope that it will be up and running in September. ## **DCC WEBSITE FUND** The money is to be spent in the coming year. ## **PLATFORM HOUSING** The funding was spent on sundry costs. ## **STREETGAMES** The funding was spent on game hampers ## **DERBYSHIRE DALES DISTRICT COUNCIL** The funding is to be spent on noticeboards. ## **DERBYSHIRE DALES DISTRIST COUNCIL (Cllr MARK WAIN)** The funding is to be spent on youth work. **-9-** **FRIENDS OF HURST FARM** ## **NOTES TO THE ACCOUNTS** ## **LOCAL GIVING** The funding is to be spent on a Herb Garden ## **FEEDING DERBYSHIRE** The charity has been provided this funding to enable the purchase of Weigh and save equipment, vegetable racks and awnings for the Farmers Larder, enabling the provision of a more economical and efficient service. ## **FOUNDATION DERBYSHIRE** The charity was very kindly awarded us two amounts of funding, both of which helped with the Fareshare subscription, rental costs and top up food to ensure all customers were able to access a good variety of food. ## **FOUNDATION DERBYSHIRE BEEKEEPING** With this pot of money the charity been able to buy all equipment needed to set up beehives in the community garden. Alongside this, a number of volunteers have carried out essential training to become beekeepers. The bees are now in situ and are happily producing honey. ## **DDDC HERB GARDEN** This fund it is hoped to purchase a wide range of herbs to add to the previously built herb garden. It is hoped the farmers larder customers and other members of the community will access this and be able to pick fresh herbs to take home and use in their own cooking. ## **DDDC LOCALITY FUND** Within Friends of Hurst Farm a need was recognised for an admin role and the DDDC Locality fund kindly gifted funds to be able to take this on. The role was quickly filled and a lovely lady set on for the role lasting 12 months. ## **MATLOCK TOWN COUNCIL** The youth in the area have very little to do in the evening therefore the Town Council very kindly gave this fund so that the charity can provide some services for them.
