Accountlng records
The trustees of a CIO are required to prepare financial statements for each financial year which give
a true and fair view of the state of affairs of the organisation as at the balance sheet date and of its
income and expenditure for the year then ended. In preparin8 those financial ststements, the
trustees are required to:
select suitable accounting policies and then apply them consistently
make judgements and estlmates that are reasonable and prudent
The trustees are responsible for keeplng proper books of account such as are necessary to glve
true and fair view of the organisation's state of affairs and to explain its financial transactions. The
trustees must also establish and maintain a satisfartory system of control of its books of account,
Its cash holdings and all its receipts and remittances, and hence is responsible for safeguardlng the
assets and taking reasonable steps for the prevention and detertion of fraud and other
irregularities.
Objerts
To advance the educatlon of the public by the preservation and maintenance of the historlc,
domestic and industrial buildin8 Sites and artefacts situated in the Tregargus Valley, Cornwall.
Power
The CIO has the power to do anythlng whlch is calculated to further its oblects or is conduclve or
incidental to doing SO.
Borrow money and to charge the whole or any part of its property as securlty for the
repayment of the money borrowed.
Buy. take on lease or In exchange, hire or otherwise acquire any property and to maintaln
and equip it for use.
Sell. lease or otherwise dispose of all or any part of the property belonglng to the CIO.
Employ and remunerate such staff as are necessary for carrying out the work of the CIO.
Deposit or Invest funds, employ a professional fund manager, arrange for the investments
or other property of the CIO to be held in the name of a nominee.
Appllcatlon of Income and Property
The income and property of the CIO must be applied solely towards the promotion of the objects.
None of the income or property of the CIO may be paid or transferred dirertly or indirectly by way
of dividend, bonus or otherwise by way of profit to any member of the CIO.

2026 AGM CHAIRMAN'S REPORT.
THIS REPORT IS FOR THE YEAR ENDING OCTOBER 2025
THE 2025 YEAR HAS BEEN A MILSESTONE YEAR. WE HAVE AT LAST FINALISED THE OWNERSHIP OF
CHAPEL MILL A REALJEWEL IN THE CROWN FOR THE TRUST. TH15 DOES COME WITH Irs
CHALLENGES WHICHTHE TRUST HAS MET HEAO ON. TOTURN IT INTO A SMALL MUSEUM
EVENTUALLY AND LINK IT IN WITH THE TREGARGUS VALLEY HAS BEEN THE DREAM.
IN ORDER TO BE SERIOUSLYWORKING WITH MANY DIFFERENT BODIES FOR FUNDING, THE TRUST
REALISING THE ÉNORMOUS MONIESTHATWILL BE NEEDÉO, WHICH IS A HUGE TASK IN ITSELF, THE
TRUST MANAGEDTO FUNDING TO SUPPORT AN OFFICIAL FUNDRAISER. WE HAVE 8EEN
BLESSED WITH M.A. CONSULTANTS. THEY HAVE WORKED TIRELESSLY ON OUR BEHALF AND ARE
PROVING TO 8ETHE RIGHT PEOPLE, ALREADY 8RINGING IN FUNDS.
IMERYS HAS BEEN POSITIVE REGARDING THE LEASE OF THE VALLEY WITH ARGEEING TO A
MODERNISED VERSION WHICH WILLGIVE THE TRUST A TOTAL OF 32 YEARS. THIS IS BEING DONEAS
WE SPEAK. THE CAR PAAK SITUATION STILL HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED BUT IMERYS HAS ENGAGED
wrrH SOMEONE ON OUR BEHALF TO SORTTHE DESIGN ETC. THIS REMAIN5 STILLA PROBLEM WITH
CONSTANT OVERPARKING ATTHE SITE. WE SINCERELY HOPE THIS CAN BE DEALT WITH THIS YEAR.
WE STILL MONITOR THE SAFETY, FiAILING AND TREE SURGERY ANDTHE PATHSAS NECESSARY 8UT
WÉ ALL HAVE HAD A VERY W￿yEAR. WE HAVE HAO SOM£TREE DAMAGE AND WASHING OUT OF
PATHS IN THE VALLEY, WHICH HAS AND IS BEING DEALTWITH. CONSTANT MONITORING OF THE
SITUATION BY us wrrH THE SLIPPAGE AREA.WHICH DOES NOT APPEAR TO HAVE DETERIOILATEO
OVER THE YEAR, STILL BEING MONrroRED BY IMERYS.
WE HAD THE USUAL HARVEFf FEsfivAL AGAIN WHICHIS ALWAYS VERY MUCH ENJOYED EACH YEAR.
IN NOVEMBER WE HADTHE"PRESS GANG" SHANTYGROUP ENTERTAIN US WITH THEIR MUSIC
WITH AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION AND A BIG CHRISTMAS RAFFLE. ITWAS SO MUCH ENJOYED BY THE
PUBLIC, THATTHEY WILL BE BACK IN NOVEMBER 2025. THIS EVENING ISAGREAT FUNDRAISER FOR
US BUT ALSO INVOLVESTHE COMMUNtrY ArrENDING WHICH KEEPSTHEM INVOLVEDWITHTHE
TRUST AND IT'SWORKS. WE ARE GREATFUL TOTHE COMMUNITYTOO FOR INFORMING US OF
AN￿HING THAT NEEDSAThENTION IN THE VALLEYWHEN THEYWALKTHERE ANDTOTHOSE WHO
LIThERPICK ON OUR 8EHALF.
WOULD LIKETO TAKE THIS OPPORUNITYTO THANK ALL THETRUSTEES FOR ALL THEIR WORK IN
