FRIENDS OF IBSTOCKAND DESFORD DISABLED SWIMMERS
An extra report wa5 added to the Annual return which was returned
to the Charity Commission on 04/02/2025. This was the time when
many of the families were cautious of the worry of possible harder
financial restraints. During COVID many of our older swimmers had
joined outdoor activities, and the most popular was football. Others
turned to the newer sport of Frame running. This built up during the
year when there were more closures of the pool than expected. Most
of the swimmers did not return. The initial swimming group of
children (maximum of eight) tried to continue with only two coaches.
The third coach had to resign after working with the squad 11 years.
The leading coach spoke about the situation to the 4 families who
return regularly. Leicester/shire and Rutland Swimming Association
(LASA) Health and Safety Officer came and suggested that we needed
to consider if the teaching was safe and covered by insurance. Later
they distributed a questionnaire of all the County swimming clubs to
discover if any of them have physically disabled swimmers.
We, the remaining coaches, together with the trustees, made a
decision that as they were unable to work to the terms of the FIDDS
Constitution they would notify the Charity Commission that all
practical pool sessions would stop at the end of the Financial Year.
This duly happened on the 27/0312025 and the Charity Commission
